Rodolfo Zelaya (born 3 July 1988 in Usulutan, El Salvador) is a Salvadoran professional football player, who currently plays forward for Alianza F.C.. He is one of the rising young stars of El Salvador impressing fans and coaches.

Club career

Zelaya started playing for C.D. San Rafael in 2004 where he would only play there for a year. The next season he would move to Atlético La Merced. In July of 2006, him and Rusvel Saravia were both offered a contract to play for C.D. Aguila. Both of them had rejected the offeres over pay disputes. Instead of signing with C.D. Aguila, he played in Segunda División de Fútbol Salvadoreño with A.D. Intipucá. After 2 years, Zelaya caught the attention of Vladan Vicevic and decided to sign him with C.D. Chalatenango since Vicevic couldn't sign him when he was managing C.D. Aguila at the time.

International career

Zelaya has made seven appearances for the full El Salvador national football team, making his debut in a friendly against China on April 23, 2008.[1] He has appeared in five qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.[2] He scored a hat trick against Surinam and scored against Haiti to help El Salvador advance to the next phase in qualifying. He is considered to be one of the most promising young players in El Salvador.
