The Article
The article is a bit thin. I'd like to bulk it up. The Red Raiders have a long, rich history so it shouldn't be difficult to come up with some good info. --Wordbuilder 04:21, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
If no one objects, I'm going to significantly shorten the portion about the mascots, which is the bulk of the article. Wikipedia already has articles on both The Masked Rider and Raider Red so I'll link to those. --Wordbuilder 13:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds OK to me. Johntex\talk 21:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
I made small addition concerning the November 1st 2008 football game, it would be great if others could expand upon that. Bladezor (talk) 12:43, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Baseball & Tennis
We need something for these two sports. I'd be happy to write it if someone will point me in the direction of some good info. That goes for any of the other sports, too. --Wordbuilder 19:31, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Add to that: golf, track, and whatever other sport you have info on. --Wordbuilder 14:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- I wrote a little bit about baseball and added a graphic, but I don't have much more. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Elred (talk • contribs) 01:47, 21 April 2007 (UTC).
- Thanks. Your additions look great. --Wordbuilder 15:01, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Bob Knight
Does anyone have a good photo of Bob Knight either wearing Texas Tech attire or clearly at TTU?
- Thanks, Elred! →Wordbuilder 14:42, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
More photos needed
We still need photos of Mike Leach, Kristy Curry, and other coaches. →Wordbuilder 17:29, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Rivals
I was wondering if we should change Tech's main rival to just A&M? The general consensus at Tech is that A&M is our biggest rival, with UT and OU a close second and third respectively. Almosthonest06 (talk) 02:46, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Check it now. I left OU in but we really need a ref to back up the claim. →Wordbuilder (talk) 02:55, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think A&M, UT, OU, and OSU would count as rivalries. I think TTU is about to begin a series of yearly games in Dallas against OSU, so that rivalry actually is going to have a sanctioned format. ...it's true though, that the rivalry between TTU and A&M is the only one where there is some degree of actual hatred. heheh. --Elred (talk) 04:08, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
layout
I'm not real high on the layout of this page. Mainly, I hate the fact that the first thing beneath the table of contents is the little bullet list of sports. It makes the page look kinda bare. Any ideas on how we could reorganize this to make it look better? I was looking at putting some sort of table for the sports that could be right-aligned or something. What do you think?--Elred (talk) 04:10, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Or, we could just convert that list into prose. They're simple bullets, so something like, "Mens' varsity sports at Texas Tech include baseball, basketball, cross country, football..." →Wordbuilder (talk) 22:42, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
A-class or GA goal
I think we need to add a 'history' section. I think Michigan State Spartans is a pretty good template for us to use. I don't think this should be that difficult. In many ways the athletic article should be easier to compile than the main university article was.--Elred (talk) 22:12, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Heck, can't we just jump right to FAC? {;o) Seriously, I'd like to see this article and the football article both make it to GA or A-class as well. →Wordbuilder (talk) 22:28, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not opposed to going after FA eventually with it. I think we're pretty well initiated into the process now, but it's not as pressing an issue for me as the main page was. Oddly, there doesn't seem to be a precedent for a university's athletic page making FA. That is especially surprising considering that TAMU has pushed a bunch of their pages through but they've left their "TAMU Aggies" page at B-class.--Elred (talk) 02:16, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Lady Raiders?
It's not just the women's basketball team that uses "Lady Raiders". For instance, track & field and golf. However soccer and softball use "Red Raiders". On cursory look, it appears that "Lady Raiders" is used when there is a men's team in the same sport; otherwise "Red Raiders" is used even by the women. →Wordbuilder (talk) 00:06, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- That's probably right. I think we had it like that at first, I don't know who changed it.--Elred (talk) 02:14, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- On your 'is spirit going to stay' question. I think it should, mainly because the cheerleaders are part of that and they kinda count as a sport.--Elred (talk) 02:34, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. Since it was still third-level, I wasn't sure if it was intentionally left or just missed when the traditions stuff was cut. →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:38, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- That's probably right. I think we had it like that at first, I don't know who changed it.--Elred (talk) 02:14, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
navboxes
It feels like we have a sea of navboxes at the bottom of this page. I think we should possibly remove the university one, and the ones for the individual sports. Those can go on the page for each sport. Otherwise we should probably nest them or something. What do you think?--Elred (talk) 02:57, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed I think we should drop the
23 coaches boxes, leaving just Texas Tech Red Raiders Athletics, TTU, and Big 12. --MarkRomero (talk) 13:56, 30 September 2008 (UTC)- Agree with just leaving the three Mark specified. →Wordbuilder (talk) 14:40, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Version 0.7
Unfortunately, this article doesn't rank highly enough in importance to be included in Version 0.7, which is limited to the top 1% articles on Wikipedia. If the article were an FA, we could probably justify including it, but as a C-Class article it's hard to make a strong case. Thanks for the nomination, Walkerma (talk) 07:00, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
