One of the village from Calicut district on Northern Kerala (Malabar).It is located near Thamarassery about 7 km away. Maikave is a scenic little town due to its proximity to mountainous areas to the east. The nearest towns are Kodenchery & Thamarassery, about 7 kms away. Agriculture is the primary occupation with rubber, arecanut , pepper and cocunut as the primary crops cultivated. Koodathai & Velamcode are near by Maikave,there are good schools, St.Mary’s H.S. Koodathai & St.Georges H.S. Velamcode. Famous St.Mary's Orthodox Church, Maikavu is situated here.Vattal Kurishu Palli is one of the major pilgrim center.

Climate:- The Village has a generally humid climate with a very hot season extending from March to May. The main rainy season is during the South West Monsoon, which sets in the first week of June and extends up to September. The North East Monsoon extends from the second half of October through November. The average annual rainfall is 3266 mm. The best weather is found towards the end of the year, in December and January. During these months, the skies are clear, and the air is crisp.

Festivals
Onam:- Kerala's innumerable festivals however stand out because of their uniqueness. Onam is the most famous festival of Kerala. All Malayalis celebrate it, irrespective of religion. It falls in the Malayalam month of Chingam (Aug-Sept). It is the harvest festival of Kerala.
Christmas:- Holy Mass is held in all the churches in Maikave. Carol singing, and setting up of Christmas trees takes place in all churches and homes.
Palliperunnal (Feast of St.Mary):- This is the local festival of this village. It is held on January 15
Easter:- This is another important Christian festival, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter usually falls in March-April, after 40 days lent of fast and penance. Christians go for mid-night mass, as a memory of the resurrection of Jesus, 2000 years ago.
