History of Belize

Well, shouldn't this be merged with History of Belize? This page should only hold a redirect to that one. I think. Greswik 15:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem with that idea is that the History article would be swamped by the British Honduras aspect, which isn't good. My opinion is that the history page should be a nice, quick read on the subject (as it pretty much is, right now) and that it works best to direct readers to more detailed information about various parts of history - so we need a "main article" link to this page in the History article (which I'll add). - DavidWBrooks 15:59, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Precedent would indicate no. We have a Federal Republic of Central America and a History of Central America and this is standard, SqueakBox 16:09, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jan 27th 2009... In Section 1.5 of this article ("Decolonization and..."), just below the 1.5 heading is a link to another article (Guatemala-Belize border disagreements). I would suppose that 'stub' article was started so that this British Honduras webpage doesn't go too far off-topic, as this British Honduras page has a lengthy description of events in the border-dispute that occurred well after "British Honduras" ceased to exist. Wondering if any ladies & gents who are familiar with this British Honduras article can sort out what belongs in both articles, or just in one or the other? I just don't want to pull tons of info out of this article with the people who worked hard to add it wondering "where'd it go??!" or "I think this this and that still belong in the British Honduras article". ;-)

Perhaps best is to put lots of information from this article's Section 1.5 into that 'stub' first, THEN pare down Section 1.5 in this article to a minimal "Here's the aftermath of the territorial disputes that occurred when British Honduras was a colony" type of writing style? Because many (not all) things after 1964 (the end of Brit Honduras's existence) seems to go off the topic (British Honduras) of this article, dunnit? I probably won't make many more edits to that 'stub' article. I left a scant few other notes in that "stub's" Talk Page, and a biggie for anyone with expertise on the British Honduras period of history is: Please scan for inaccuracies in the "transition to crown colony" period in that 'stub' article.

P.S. And then on the History of Belize page, we have this[1] shorter version of "Decolonization and...," but it looks to be intentional? (to not let the History of... page be overwhelmed by this specific British Honduras period?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.155.196.211 (talk) 16:11, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
