1000 Stars is the upcoming debut album by Australian singer and former Rogue Traders lead singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte, to be released on February 21, 2009.

Background

In 2006, Natalie signed a record deal with Sony BMG to record a solo album. She began work on the album, but not until mid-2008 did any major progress begin. She travelled to London, Norway and the US to write and record the album. She worked with some of the biggest names in pop, including Chris Braide (James Morrison, Will Young, Kylie Minogue) Paul Barry (Cher, Tina Turner), Steve Anderson (Kylie Minogue), Jimmy Harry (Pink, Britney Spears) and rising Norwegian star Ina Wroldsen[1]. She also wrote a song that appears on the album with partner Cameron McGlinchey, called "Feel the Flow".[2]. The album's title was first announced in November 2008.[1].

Natalie lists the tracks "1000 Stars" (written & produced by Chris Braide) and "In His Eyes", which is about her grandad, as her favourite tracks she's written for the album in GQ Magazine (Issue Oct/Nov 08).[3]

The album track "Catch Me If You Can" is used in a Network Ten advertisement promoting its new international show, Lie to Me.

Some of the songs on the album feature samples such as Blondie's "Heart of Glass" in "Supersensual" and Robert Miles' "Children" in "Could You Be Loved".

Singles

  • "Alive" was very highly anticipated upon it's release, and was quickly snatched up by radio stations. It was the #4 most heard song in Australia at one stage, and eventually peaked at #8 on The ARIA Singles chart, after continuous rising and falling. It has recently certified GOLD for sales of 35,000+ in Australia
  • "Someday Soon" was first performed by Natalie at the New Years Eve party in Sydney, and continued to get heavier airplay each week, and on the Australian Airplay Chart has so far peaked at #41. It made it's debut on the ARIA Singles chart at #9, and in it's 2nd week peaked at #7.

The tracklist confirmed on Sony B2B Australia. A track called Gone does not make an appearance although being confirmed prior to the tracklisting's release.
