Kattuputhur (தமிழ்:காட்டுப்புத்தூர்) is a panchayat town in Tiruchirappalli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The town is at an altitude of 102m.[1]

Modern Village

As of 2001 India census[2], Kattuputhur had a population of 11,115. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Kattuputhur has an average literacy rate of 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 79%, and female literacy is 60%. In Kattuputhur, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The main occupation here is agriculture. Kattuputhur has one of the finest fertile lands in the Cauvery delta of Tamil Nadu. Paddy and Banana are grown alternatively through the year. The agriculture depends on the cauvery water mainly flowing in 3 km distance from Kattuputhur.

The Zamindar Higher Secondary School located in the centre of the town, caters to students coming from as many as 25 villages around Kattuputhur. It has a history dating back a hundred years.

The town has a Bus-stand, Police Station, Government Hospital, Library and banks like Lakhsmi Vilas Bank, IOB, Trichy District Central Co-Operative Bank, and Kattuputhur Co-Operative Bank.

Kattuputhur is facilitated with block primary health centre located in the residental area. Well compounded beautiful health centre with round the clock delivery care system with three doctors. It looks beautiful with gardens, trees and siddha plants. It serves 200 patients approx. daily.

BSNL, Airtel, Aircel, Reliance and Tata Indicom provide telecom serivces in the town.

Few persons have tried to initiate the developments in and around Kattuputhur by bringing the modern age facilities like browsing center (i-Valley Internet Center by ராமதுரை) in this agricultural village, so many years after the entry of facilities like E-mail, chat & world wide network throughout the world.

This town is well-connected to the nearest towns like Trichy, Karur and Namakkal by government and private buses.

Now Kattuputhur has been directly linked with Chennai by facilitating a bus from Kattuputhur to Chennai. A major Bench Mark in Kattuputhur's History!
