What about adding something about her ability to read texts in foreign languages? Jonas Viper 21:40, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Foreshadowing of Dawn's Arrival

The arrival of Dawn Summers is a metaphor for adopted children. It was foreshadowed in cryptic dream sequences in seasons three and four. Faith said to Buffy in Graduation Day, Part Two, "Look at you, all dressed up in big sister’s clothes."

I don't think this had anything to do with Dawn's foreshadowing, partly because this wasn't a part of any dream sequence or prophecy, it was the dialogue just before Faith and Buffy had there big final battle of season three. I believe that has more to do with Faith and Buffy's relationship.PhoenixPrince 12:10, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about the Little Miss Muffet comment in Season Three?Noneofyourbusiness 15:22, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not familiar with that comment. When was it said?PhoenixPrince 12:12, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whedon has revealed in a number of places (e.g. "Restless" commentary) that the dream sequences between Faith and Buffy were foreshadowing Dawn and the events of the Gift. -- Paxomen 15:19, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the comment was 'Little Miss Muffet counting down from 730.' Little Miss Muffet is Dawn (notice how the crazy guy in 'Real Me' called her Curds and Whey.) 730 is 365x2, meaning the two years between seasons 3 and 5. (Although the time between this comment and Dawn's arrival is only just over a year, if the seasons are each roughly a year long.

The 730 part is the time until Buffy's death in "The Gift".--Nalvage 07:18, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Or perhaps specifically the portal Dawn's blood opens. --OGoncho 19:32, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whedon states on the "spotlight on Dawn" special feature on the season five disc 6 dvd, that the little miss muffet 730 comment is "two years to the day" foreshadowing Dawn. 84.69.165.188 01:22, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Berkeley

Although it seems more likely that she would be going to Berkeley City College, what's the source that she's going there rather than to UC Berkeley? Theshibboleth 00:04, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History

Have just written frickin loads in the character history section. I think I may have been a bit long-winded and irrelevant, but her history just looked so bare and neglected that I felt I had to write something. Other pages that seem a little skinny are Tara and Giles. Compared to the length of Buffy, Spike, Angel, and Faith's pages, it just seems like people don't care about them as much.

Also, may have let my own fondness for the character seep into it. Somebody should proofread it and edit out any affection. It's just so hard not to! I can't help but get a bit opinionated while writing about these characters. Somebody please go through it and cut out the BS. I also think the "Dawn and the gang" section needs serious work and organisation. Any thoughts? How about treating it like a romantic relationship section, only on her friendships. Eg, Spike, Tara, Willow, Xander etc, etc.

Also, how about a quote list? Dawn had some great one-liners. Paul730 03:41, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

S8 Pictures

Can somebody find a picture of Giant Dawn? Preferably the cover to Buffy #4, if that's okay.

Done, but I used interior art from #1 instead, as to me it's more "canonical" than a cover. At the very least, it depicts actual eventsJeff-El 20:04, 10 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks. She's such a moody cow in that pic! lol Paul730 22:36, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should revert to the giant pic; the centaur cover is beautiful but perhaps not the image that most captures whatever storyline they're doing here.~ZytheTalk to me! 12:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

The length of this article is much better, but it badly needs sources and references aside from the actual show. Think of it this way: If a character is not notable enough to be mentioned in mainstream press, then they're not notable enough for their own Wikipedia article, and instead should be limited to a paragraph on a "List of characters" somewhere. If they are notable enough for mainstream press mentions, then please add links to those articles here at Wikipedia. For more info, please see WP:V and WP:N. WP:FICTION is also a good resource, thanks. --Elonka 20:55, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll suggest that the excess material be moved to the Buffy Wikia. --OGoncho 21:01, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What excess material do you mean exactly? Elonka said the length of the article had been improved, and that all it needs is references and sources. I've found some sites referencing Dawn in pop culture, but they're all negative. "Dawn is worst television character ever", "Dawn is a case of Cousin Oliver syndrome", etc etc. I don't have the heart to write a section about Dawn being hated, but if somebody else wants to, it would probably improve the article. I added the section on the Dawn figurines based on advice Elonka left on Wesley's talk page, and if someone could put something about Dawn's appearances in the novels/comics, that'd be great. I would, but I don't really read the books. Besides, if we're talking characters that don't need their own page, how about Veruca and the Chaos Demon? I mean, seriously, who thought that the Chaos Demon needed his own page? Paul730 19:48, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if the article can't have refernces on the in depth character descriptions, it would be merged into a character list. I'm saying that the stuff that won't survive should be relocated to the different project. --OGoncho 06:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spike's nickname for Dawn.

Ok, maybe I'm old and going a bit deaf - but I'm willing to swear in any court of law you'd care to mention, that Spike's nickname for Dawn was "Li'l bit", not "niblet". The Creeping Spleen 19:07, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He calls her both. He also uses "platelet" sometimes. --OGoncho 19:23, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Soul

Since monks created her human form from an energy state does she in fact have a soul. She isn't created in a normal way. Her memories aren't real and are implanted, so she is kinda like a vampire in a sense since she is a blank slate and adding to it.

The definition of a soul is icky. What makes a soul? The Buffyverse probably isn't the best context for this discussion, since they make differentiations between "human" soul and say, a demon's soul, in some Angel episodes. Unless the series or creator or portrayer references it, it's not even worth mentioning in the article.~ZytheTalk to me! 21:40, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Dawn Summers Giant.JPG

Image:Dawn Summers Giant.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Scotland

This section makes absolutely no sense to me. I have seen all of buffy, but still can not make head nor tail of it. Perhaps someone who does could clarify what it actually refers to. if it is just a description of one event from an episode, then why does it belong here, what is it's larger significance? --Brideshead (talk) 12:06, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's a description of events in the comic continuation. Maybe that could be clearer, but if you click on the links to the "episodes" mentioned, they'll take you to pages on comic arcs. --Nalvage (talk) 17:20, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Restless "appearance"

I see over and over again online references suggesting a dark-haired extra during Xander's dream sequence in Season 4's "Restless" as being Michelle Trachenberg before being cast as Dawn. It makes for an interesting story of a happy accident, but I haven't found anything official to corroborate recently. Yet, I could swear I once heard in a commentary on one of the DVDs something to confirm the coincidence. Is that something that might warrant being added as a BTS trivia section for this article? Medleystudios72 (talk) 08:37, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Only if we can find official confirmation, but I've only ever seen it as speculation. --Nalvage (talk) 14:19, 29 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My search for confirmation has continued. In watching the commentary for "Real Me," I noticed it was mentioned that Dawn was in "Restless," but that could easily be a mistake or a metaphorical reference. I'll keep looking...

Medleystudios72 (talk) 13:07, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't heard the commentary, so I can't speak to that or if she did actually appear, but she is mentioned in Restless. A Dream-Tara quote (At least, I'm pretty sure it's Dream-Tara, the whole episode was a bit trippy and kinda blurs together) "Be back before [the] Dawn" JBK405 (talk) 05:49, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:Longwaycover07.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Weird Sentence

She has the distinction of being the only character, barring Buffy, Willow and characters who only appeared in the last season, to appear in every episode after her debut.

...is that really a distinction when you have to bar that many things? Also, sorry, I'm pretty sure I edited the talk page improperly, but I couldn't find the 'Edit' for the whole page. 96.238.115.21 (talk) 04:49, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
