About the song

"Our Lips Are Sealed" is a song by American pop punk group The Go-Go's from their 1981 album Beauty and the Beat. Released as a single in the United States that same year (see 1981 in music), the song peaked at number twenty on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, and fifteen on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart.

"Our Lips Are Sealed" was later covered by American pop music singer Hilary Duff for the soundtrack album A Cinderella Story to the 2004 film A Cinderella Story, in which Hilary Duff stars. The cover, which features Duff's sister Haylie Duff, was released in the United States in June 2004 (see 2004 in music). Duff said in an interview she was happy and proud to cover the song, especially because it can relate to her, her sister and the film A Cinderella Story. The song was later included on Duff's compilation album Most Wanted (2005).

The single's music video was also released in June 2004 and received medium airplay on Much Music and MTV. It is similar to the video for the Go-Go's single, and depicts the Duff sisters driving around town in a car and goofing about, interspersed with clips from A Cinderella Story. Though the video was popular on the MTV video chart show Total Request Live, the single itself failed to emulate the success of the original Go-Go's song. It reached number seven in Canada and number eight in Australia, but fared worse on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.
