2004 Suzuki Grand Vitara

The Grand Vitara is Suzuki's larger version of the Suzuki Vitara. With the smaller Vitara no longer offered in the United States, the Grand Vitara (and even larger XL7 version) are the company's only SUV. Sales are slow, with just 4,860 sold in 2004. The Grand Vitara will be replaced in the Fall of 2005 by a new vehicle using General Motors' Theta platform. However, in India (where it is sold as a Maruti, it is a popular SUV (currently the Grand Vitara is the XL-7 variant, the original GV-based model having been discontinued a while ago), competing with such vehicles as the Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio.
