Darna[1] is an upcoming Philippine Telefantasya created and developed by Mars Ravelo set to premier on 2009. The show will be starred by Philippines' hottest star, Marian Rivera.
Pre-Production
The first TV series was aired last 2005 with Angel Locsin, which made her a big star. GMA-7 confirms that the rights of Darna will be still theirs along with Captain Barbell and Dyesebel. Last January 2008, it was announced that it will come along with Captain Barbell but since due to schedule conflicts of Richard Gutierrez, he will enter the series late. Angel Locsin, the first TV Darna, has transferred to ABS-CBN, the rival station of GMA Network on 2007. Marian Rivera, the lead actress of the phenomenal shows, MariMar, Dyesebel and Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang ,although the latter part did not click to the public, was chosen to play. Rivera was chosen to play Darna because she had already surpassed the rating of Darna which is 52.1% by MariMar's 52.6%.
Casting
GMA Network along with the Ravelo's Company has unanimously chose Marian Rivera as Darna. Other GMA stars could have also considered for the title role such as Ehra Madrigal, Katrina Halili and Carla Abellana. It is still unknown if the same cast and story will be used for this series.
