- A couple of clear photos of the very beginning of a play in American football with all the players lined up and set. I'd like to see an I-formation or singleback formation, and also a shotgun formation to contrast. Preferably standard-ish formations with a tight end and at least one running back. These photos would be useful in the American football article, as well as tight end, wide receiver, etc., where we can point out where the tight end lines up, for example, or which guy is the fullback.

Vilma trade
Ian—
The fact that the Saints owed the Jets a third-round pick is based on the fact that Vilma did not sign a contract extension before the end of the 2008 season. Had he done so, they would have owed a second-round pick. In the grand scheme of things, other editors have already gone back and forth on this, and the consensus appears to be that it is an unhelpful detail in the 2009 NFL Draft article. Vandalismo?
If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 19:33, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, no problem. Greetings--190.208.86.19 (talk) 20:36, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Chris Moyles Quiz Night
This was added to the Overzealous reverting section above, but I moved it to its own topic and added {{unsigned}}. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 05:48, 25 April 2009 (UTC) I was not making innapropriate pages, Chris Moyles Quiz Night is a main stream television show, and creating a page aout this is not innapropriate. Grouped references
Ian—you suggested that it could be modified in several ways relative to the way you first had it. Until I see that, I can't really say for sure. Would it be possible to take, say, two or three rounds from the table, and two or three trades, and do a "mock-up" on your user page? Samer (talk) 03:45, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
- I really wish you had waited, primarily because I don't think it's obvious enough how it works that the average user will get it right, and there will be THOUSANDS of edits this weekend.
- That said, I figure since it does, in general, look like an improvement (although I'd fix some things, such as the unneeded carriage returns), I'll leave it as is, but change that section to "Pre-Draft Trades." That way, people can add the in-draft trades in a style similar to the previous one, and then the whole thing can be fixed by people who understand the nested reference system. Thanks for the meetup notice.
Unfortunately, it's caught me at a busy time, and that's a bit of a drive, so I probably won't make it. Robert K S (talk) 02:34, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Wikipedia should encourage editors to have some command of the language they are editing in
Hi Ian, I think you may be able to reflect on the following comment:
I’ve noticed that the editor 190.208.86.19 is constantly editing pages in English Wikipedia but he doesn’t seem to have even a basic command of the English language. He uses logical deduction in making basic statements, in pasting, changing statistics etc.
I’ll give you an example from the page that I started on 4 April 2009: Croatian Chilean: (this is an example he/she seems to be doing this to a number of similar pages)
- 1. He/she first altered the introduction from "Croatian Chilean are an important" to "Croatian Chilean are a important" etc. which I changed and ultimately rewrote completely.
- 2. He/she then proceeded to add duplicate entries of people to the Notable Chilean Croats (he obviously didn’t even read them).
- 3. He/she then pasted sentences from the Punta Arenas, Chile page with altered syntax into the paragraph with the heading: "Punta Arenas City “Croatian” pacific" which was rectified by 71.102.2.206. into the more readable "Punta Arenas, City of the "Croatian" Pacific." I fixed the ruined syntax of part of the paragraph that he pasted and broke up.
- 4. I rewrote the introduction again and mentioned the Croatian diaspora, he/she probably clicked on this and decided to start to work on the Croatian diaspora page. The original page had links to the corresponding countries constituting the diaspora but he/she pasted the duplicate material on the page. In the process of pasting he/she changed the statistics from the Croatian Chilean page from 500,000 to 700,000, he even placed a reference for it !
In the past this editor has edited my contribution and left them with grammatical errors and ruined the syntax.
I started in good faith, I initially wanted to translate the content on the Spanish page Inmigración croata en Chile into the English one but what for if it is going to be ruined or carelessly pasted somewhere else.
190.208.86.19 knows his html and can format, paste, add references html etc…but he doesn’t understand the language of the page itself.
Is there a Wikipedia policy that encourages a person to at least have a basic understanding of English grammar to edit English wikipedia. To edit pages in English Wikipedia without any basic command of English, in my judgement, is vandalism.
