Where is the dispute?
In the Koi Article under Origins, there is information related to the Family level (which there is a seperate article to address the family level) and additional information related to a seperate species. This seperate species already has a seperate article. There is also a seperate section to address the differences between the two species.
Who is involved?
A short list of the users involved, for example;
What is the dispute?
Information unrelated to the Origin of Koi is in the origin section. This could be confusing and convoluting. Much of the information in this section would be more appropriate in different articles or in different sections with the koi article. This origin section of koi should be specific to that species of fish, not at the higher family level, and not related to other seperate species.
What would you like to change about this?
The origin section needs clean up. Certain informantion should be ommitted altogether. Other information should be moved down to the Differences between Koi and Goldfish section.
How do you think we can help?
Please review the Koi Talk pages and the Koi article itself for the Origin section.
All information on the origins of koi should be specific to the Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) is the fish species that was selectively bred to result in koi, Family: Cyprinidae; Genus: Cyprinus; Species Carpio.
Information related to the origin of the group of carp fish, a larger collection from the Cyprinidae family of fish should not be in the origin of koi since there is a seperate article about the Carp or Cyprinidae family.
Information about goldfish (Carassius auratus,)the fish species that was selectively bred from the Prussian Carp (Carassius gibelio). Goldfish Family: Cyprinidae; Genus: Carassius; Species Auratus. Prussian Carp Family: Cyprinidae; Genus: Carassius; Species Gibelio. Should not be there since there are seperate articles for goldfish and a section within the Koi article related to differences between koi and goldfish.
Mediator notes
- Glancing at the article talk page, I see you have opened an RFC, and a user has provided their input in regards to the sourcing issue. Is this case still required? Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 21:49, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- The users engaged in the RFC are one of the parties involved, and one of the moderators that is assisting. This was originally an Arbitration Request, but the Arbitration Committee rejected the request and advised that it go to mediation first. Because neutral input is lacking in the RFC, mediation is probably needed to obtain a neutral perspective.
