Dr. Frederick Zugibe is the former chief medical examiner of Rockland County New York. He is well known for his research on the crucifixion and Shroud of Turin, which contradicts the theories of Pierre Barbet (regarding crucifixion) and the Catholic Church (regarding the Shroud of Turin).

In 2003 Rockland County dedicated the Rockland County Medical Examiner's Office as the DR. FREDERICK T. ZUGIBE FORENSIC UNIT.[1]

Zugibe appeared in an episode of Penn & Teller: Bullshit! regarding Signs from God in which he defended the idea that crucifixion by the hands was possible.[2]
