AWB task request 2

OK, for this one, we're going to use a little substitution trick. (I think you'll like it).

In AWB, please make a list from User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox31 (I changed the contents), and filter out all pages that are not talk pages in the talk namespace. That is, you want the list you create to only have talk pages that correspond to articles in article space. Not any other talk space.

Set AWB to not skip pages that do not exist. (We want to edit the empty talk pages too).

Set AWB to skip pages with {{Outline of knowledge coverage

(note that I left off the closing brackets)

Set AWB to prepend {{subst:User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox07}}

That's the trick right there.

Run AWB on the list.

Then check them, because not all of them will match perfectly (some need "the" added in), etc.

But most of them should be blue, because the countries are capitalized by default.

Thank you.

Good luck.

The Transhumanist    04:35, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried it on a bunch, and it works great. After you've run AWB on this task, you'll have to go back and add "the" for the outlines about islands and "Republics of". Have fun.  :) The Transhumanist    05:01, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

checkY Done (though I think someone else helped out). All of them seem done, though a bunch of outlines are uncreated. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 20:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To test out the task, I did the items on the list from Micronesia and below. Did someone else help out too? If so, let's track him down and recruit him! The Transhumanist    01:47, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Outline templates

You seem to be adding lots of redlinks to pages. For example [1] and [2]. Please can you revert all these or fix them? Thanks, — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:38, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, if you look up, The Transhumanist told me to expect this. What I plan to do after I finish my run of 300 additions is to open all of them and fix whichever redlinks are there. Hopefully, I should have this done within a few hours. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 21:40, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I might have saved you some work. Have a look at the code on Template:Outline of knowledge coverage. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:43, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wow there, thanks. That will help out a bunch. Can I get you in touch with The Transhumanist, by any chance? The geography project could always use another coder :) NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 21:45, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWB task to adjust categories

For the articles listed at Category:Indexes of articles, please do the following:

Replace:

[[Category:Indexes of articles]]

With: nothing. That is, erase it.

Replace:

[[Category:Lists of topics by country

With:

[[Category:Indexes of articles by country

These can be done in the same pass.

Thank you.

Good luck.

The Transhumanist    23:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I had to do two passes, because I'm a fool, but  Done. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 01:34, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, before you know it, you'll be using AWB to do 30 search/replaces in a single pass.  :) The Transhumanist    01:54, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another AWB category adjustment

Somehow the pages in the above set got split between two categories.

So, in AWB make a list from Category:Lists of topics by country and use the filter feature to filter out all the pages that do not have "Index" in their titles.

Then set AWB to make the following search/replace:

Replace:

[[Category:Lists of topics by country

With:

[[Category:Indexes of articles by country

and run it.

Good luck.

Have fun.

The Transhumanist    01:56, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 02:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWB category adjustment #3...

Now to finish off the category (we've been moving all the pages in it to its subcategories).

Make a list from Category:Lists of topics by country and use the filter feature to keep all the pages with "List" in their titles.

Then set AWB to make the following search/replace:

Replace:

[[Category:Lists of topics by country

With:

[[Category:Outlines of countries

and run it.

Good luck.

Have fun.

The Transhumanist    02:01, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Done NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 02:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWB cat task #4

In all the pages listed at Category:Topical indexes,Replace:

[[Category:Topical indexes

With:

[[Category:Indexes of articles

Good luck.

Have fun.

(You're doing an amazing job.)

The Transhumanist    02:26, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done, finally :) Time for me to head off, but please do leave any new tasks; I can get to them tomorrow evening. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 04:46, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Editing "Catalog of articles in probability theory"

Hi, did you note the "Please do not edit this page manually" warning on that page? I'll try to implement your changes properly, but some of them will probably disappear after the next compilation by my bot. Boris Tsirelson (talk) 06:33, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I actually was struggling to finish a massive load of AWB edits yesterday, and I did not notice that notice. Sorry about that. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 20:31, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mathbot undid some of your changes

...rewriting the old info over your cat info.

See .

Please look into it.

The Transhumanist    20:05, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: I'll have more tasks for you soon. The Transhumanist    20:05, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AWB task to post notices to country outline talk pages

Since it has my signature on the messages, make sure you place "posted at The Transhumanist's request" in the edit summary. Or something to that effect.

Using AWB, please make a list from User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox34 (a list of all country outline talk pages).

Set AWB to append {{subst:User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox33}} to the page. (It's a bunch of messages, including notices on the problem with the government section, where to find the guideline draft, etc.)

Then run it.

Good luck.

Have fun.

Oversighted Sandbox Material

I changed the title from ONLY WARNING - YOU WILL BE BLOCKED. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 18:51, 23 May 2009 (UTC) If you ever place material like this on Wikipedia again, you will be indefinitely blocked from editing. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 18:04, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I did not put anything objectionable. Another user did it. I just wrote under it. User F203 (talk) 18:02, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The trouble with threatening people is that they leave Wikipedia. I was going to leave but then thought that I should not be bullied by others, particularly since I am a productive editor. Please be nice to others. User F203 (talk) 18:06, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I cannot show you now, but I believe that the oversighted edits show that it was indeed you who posted something alone the lines of "X Person's credit card number is this. Don't remove this." Those edits were found serious enough to be removed by Oversighters, and that is why I gave you such a strong warning. NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 18:50, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI: if you are referring to undoing my revert [or reverting my undo, if you like :)], I actually undid myself after having a closer look. No harm done, I shouldn't have undone in the first place. decltype (talk) 18:56, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that! Those were just random numbers and random names and also not even the correct number of digits for a credit card.

It would be like saying Nuclear Warfare's Visa card number is 2839 4954 9320 3493 4054, issued by the Bank of the Klingon Empire.

But nice of you to be more civil today! User F203 (talk) 19:03, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The problem was that they might have very well a true credit card number, and I didn't want to take chances with things like that Neither did Risker or FT2, who when I talked to them were like yikes!; we have to delete this quickly. Sorry if I seemed a bit harsh; I was only trying to make sure this didn't happen again. My apologies, NW (Talk) (How am I doing?) 19:12, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just recently learned how to redirect so I redirected User:NucularWarfare to you. I created that user name so that I could redirect that mis-spelt username to you. User F203 (talk) 19:21, 23 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Magic words

"Please don't post credit card numbers."

Just kidding.

The magic words to which I am referring are variables used in templates.

AWB task - post notice to non-country outline talk pages

In AWB, please make a list from User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox35 (list of talk pages for non-country outlines and outline drafts), and filter out all pages that are not talk pages (there are talk pages from article space and the Wikipedia namespace on there). That is, you want the list you create to only have talk pages that correspond to outlines and outline drafts.

Set AWB to not skip pages that do not exist. (We want to edit the empty talk pages too, if there are any).

Set AWB to append {{subst:User:The Transhumanist/Sandbox36}}

Then let 'er rip!  :)

Thank you.

Good luck.

Have fun.

P.S.: We're really pumping up your edit count this week, aren't we.  :) I'm jealous.
