MILF

Mother I'd Like to Fuck (MILF) is a common American colloquial term generally regarded as vulgar. Slight variations include Mom I'd Like to Fuck; they still conform to the acronym 'MILF'.

Usage

MILF denotes a sexually attractive older female, generally between 35-50 in age, and not necessarily an actual mother. In the proper use of the term, the female in question should be old enough to be the mother of the person proclaiming her attractiveness. The term was popularized by the Hollywood film American Pie (1999),[1] though the origin of the term predates this (the term was already used for years on the Internet).[2]

A Cougar (slang) should not strictly be considered a MILF.

  • The acronym MILF is also used in the Weeds series as a nickname for a the variety of marijuana created by Conrad (Episode 8, Season 2: MILF money), MILF-Weed.
  • In 2007, Spirit Airlines ran a promotional campaign titled "M.I.L.F.", an acronym which the airline described as meaning "Many Islands, Low Fares". Although the airline at first denied that it had been aware of the sexual meaning of the term,[3] the airline president later explained that "many things that you see on TV" have "multiple levels ... for adults and children .... [We] all knew it meant Many Islands, Low Fares. Some people knew it had other meanings. ... I've seen American Pie, so I knew that there were other alternative meanings."[4]
  • Tori Amos' song "Big Wheel" on her 2007 album "American Doll Posse" refers to herself as a MILF.[5]
