Template:Future television series Template:Infobox reality music competition The ninth season of American Idol will premiere in January 2010.[1] Judges Simon Cowell,[2] Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi[3] are returning as judges, though there were reportedly doubts about DioGuardi's return, as well as speculation Abdul's contract will not be renewed.[4] Rumors have spread that Season 8 was Simon Cowell's last season on Idol because of his involvement with Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. Semifinals

Similar to previous season, there will be a Top 39 with 13 people in each group. Four will be selected (2 highest boys and 2 highest girls) from each group. The Wild Card round will consist of 4 contenders with each one selected by the four judges. One selected from that to form a Top 13.

Finals

The first week two songs will be sung with a contestant's choice and two will be eliminated. A mentor will be selected each week with only genres of music for the themes. The number of songs sung will be changed. The finale will consist of 3 finalists instead of the normal 2. The save will also be in play. The finale will be held at the Nokia Theatre again. Idol Gives Back is said to come back for the week with the Top 7.

===Where is the evidence for this ? 13 doesn't divide by 2 so how could top 2 boys and girls advance when there would be unequal numbers. === 92.3.174.44 (talk) 19:36, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
