Indian Land is a fast-growing unincorporated area in the northern neck (the "Panhandle") of Lancaster County, South Carolina, United States. It lies just south of Ballantyne in southern Charlotte, North Carolina and east of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Its proximity to Ballantyne has enabled Indian Land to be a desirable place to live. It is also fast becoming a bedroom community of Charlotte.

The area is expanding immensely, with many housing developments such as Arlington, Bridgehampton, Bridgemill, Legacy Park, Chastain, Belair at Carolina Lakes, and Sun City Carolina Lakes. The new subdivsion Bretagne, with its European-theme, will be home to 2 million dollar mansions; a first for this area. New corporate parks are also being constructed along Hwy 521.

Schools in Indian Land include Indian Land Elementary, Indian Land Middle School and Indian Land High School. Indian Land schools have seen rapid improvement. The High School recently won state recognition for being a "Red Carpet School" [1].

U.S. Route 521 and South Carolina Highway 160 are two major roads that run through Indian Land. With such busy roads bisecting this area, and major growth taking place now, there as been talk of Indian Land incorporating. However, incorporation would not happen for several years, according to the Fort Mill Times. [2].

Indian Land is home to at least three cement factories, four by 2008. These are all located just 6/10 of a mile from the Indian Land School complex.
