"Sneakernight"
Song

"Sneakernight" is a song by American pop singer, Vanessa Hudgens taken as the only single from her second album, Identified as of 2009 and was produced by J. R. Rotem. It was available on iTunes on May 27, 2008 and was released in Germany on February 6, 2009.[1]

Critical reception

Billboard said that, "Sneakernight takes a G-rated lyric about making your feet comfy into a slightly more mature tome about fancy footwork." They were also surprised that producer J.R. Rotem "gave an uncharacteristically organic landscape that still manages to groove, while Hudgens sounds like she's having a blast with a cute call-and-response with background vocals."[2] Commonsensemedia said that it "is a tame, energy-infused pop song talking about getting on the dance floor", but stated that "the lyrics are so simplistic that they border on trite."[3] Blender gave it 3 stars: "The innuendo is there for those who want to hear it ('Put your sneakers on / Let’s go all night long!'). Teens will dance (and giggle), parents will overpay for the concert and all will be right with the teen pop universe."[4]

Music video

The music video shows Hudgens going to a house party with a group of friends wearing glowing neon sneakers. It starts with Hudgens calling her friends on her cell phone, and picking out sneakers. On the second verse, she is now at the party and while on her way to a guy staring at her, she is blocked by another guy who tries to impress her by showing some dance moves. It premiered on Disney.com on June 13, 2008 and on MTV's TRL on July 1, 2008. The video was directed by Malcolm Jones.[5]
