Plot summary

With a flu epidemic running rife, three new bumbling recruits (Connor, Williams and Phillips) are assigned to Inspector Mills' police station. With help from Special Constable Gorse, they manage to wreck the operations of the police force and let plenty of criminals get away, even before they arrive at the station. They all have to prove themselves, or they'll be out of a job and Sergeant Wilkins will be transferred. Sub-plots include romances between sergeants Wilkins and Moon and constables Constable and Passworthy.

Cast overview

Trivia

  • Norman Hudis was sent to Slough Police Station to research the screenplay. He was very worried about the film following his experiences at the Police Station.
  • The role of Sergeant Wilkins was intended for Ted Ray following his work on Carry On Teacher. However, Ray was contracted to ABC (despite being unused by them), who distributed the "Carry On..." films to cinemas. Unhappy seeing one of their contracted actors in a rival production, they threatened to stop distribution, so Peter Rogers reluctantly dropped him from the films and replaced him with Sid James, who started his full-time membership of the "Carry On..." team.
