David Liss (born 1966) is a American writer who was born in New Jersey and grew up in Florida. Liss received his B.A. degree from Syracuse University, an M.A. from Georgia State University and his M.Phil from Columbia University but left his dissertation unfinished to write full-time.[1]

He has written historical novels set in the business world and contemporary political fiction. His first book was A Conspiracy of Paper (2001), for which he won the 2001 Edgar Award for Best First Novel. He lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife and children.[2] He is a vegan.
