Teddy Geiger

Teddy Geiger (born John Theodore "Teddy" Geiger II on September 16, 1988) in Buffalo, New York, and later moved to Rochester, New York is an American singer-songwriter and occasional actor. He is also known to play the guitar, bass, piano, drums and trombone.

Biography

Teddy Geiger wrote his first song at the age of 10. He attended McQuaid Jesuit High School through his junior year, after which he transferred to Pittsford Sutherland High School and graduated through a tutoring program with the class of 2006.

First seen in national media as a finalist in VH1's In Search of the Partridge Family, Geiger toured with Hilary Duff, serving as the opening act on her summer 2005 Still Most Wanted tour. His first single, "For You I Will (Confidence)", was officially released in February 2006. The song received positive reviews; it was called "sweetly romantic" and said to contain "sophisticated lyrics".[1] His debut album, Underage Thinking, was released on March 21, 2006, and peaked at number eight (#8) in the US Billboard 200 albums chart. Geiger had a small role on the short lived television series Love Monkey, which originally aired on CBS and was later moved to VH1. He played the young up-and-coming musician Wayne Jensen, starring alongside Tom Cavanagh and Jason Priestley. His song "For You I Will (Confidence)" was featured as the theme to the show on the later episodes. He saw his record sales increase with exposure on the morning and evening talk show television circuit.

His debut single "For You I Will (Confidence)" was nominated for "Best Love Song" in the 2006 Teen Choice Awards. He released a second single, "These Walls", which began receiving steady radio airplay in September 2006 and was later released as a music video. In July 2006, it was announced that Geiger would be on the cover of Seventeen Magazine in the fall. Appearing on the November 2006 issue, Teddy became the first male on the cover of the magazine in five years.[2]

His debut album Underage Thinking won the award for 'Best Album of the Year' at the annual MusiqTone MusiqAwards. He was also nominated for 'New Artist of the Year' but lost to Panic at the Disco.[3] Geiger also received an AVMA for Brand Spankin' New Artist in 2007. He also made his feature-film debut in in The Rocker, which stars Emma Stone, Christina Applegate, Josh Gad, and Rainn Wilson. The movie was released on August 20, 2008. [4]

In 2008, Geiger parted ways with Columbia Records.[5] [6]

Geiger has completed his next album, "The March," and announced 33 brand new songs that fans could choose from to create their own album. Based on the individual ratings, number of plays, and number of purchases, he will determine the 11 songs to complete the official released album. The voting is now over, and the songs for the album are currently being chosen.
