Lethal Weapon - The Ride at RCDB |
Lethal Weapon - The Ride is a Vekoma SLC roller coaster located at Warner Bros. Movie World in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia built by Dutch roller coaster manufacturer Vekoma. It has 2 trains with 10 cars per train. Riders are arranged 2 across in a single row for a total of 20 riders per train. The ride is also known as "Ride Lethal Weapon" and is the first thrill ride to open in the park. The ride is also the first steel inverted roller coaster at an Australian Theme Park.
Riders join in the queue by entering an area of the theme park made up like Chinatown, complete with "establishments" such as "Lee's Martial Arts School" and various restaurants and sundry shops, most make-believe. The queue starts outdoors, then moves to a movie-theater like hall where riders can watch sequences of the film while waiting to ride.
Before finally riding, riders progress into an area made up like an auto yard, with cars plied up atop each other and graffiti all over the walls, with the sound of barking Dobermans as well as a seemingly abandoned Shell auto station. After hearing an audio presentation, riders are strapped in, though they have to first remove all eyewear and anything in their pockets.
After the ride, they can proceed to the observation deck where they can view other riders on the roller coaster, or to the ride gift shop to purchase ride photographs and memorabilia before leaving.
