---|
The Sour Notes are an Austin pop band formed by Jared Boulanger (vocals/guitar), Chris Page (piano/guitar), Travis Hackett (drums) and Brandi Dipietro (bass). Baltimore City Paper is quoted as saying "Their allure is an easy one--dreary yet rich pop ballads that ease you through the gloom with melodic charm and earnest sweetness."[1]
History
Though their debut album The Meat of the Fruit was recorded and produced solely by Boulanger and recording engineer Steve Christensen[2] while living in Houston, The Sour Notes did not change from a solo recording project into a performing ensemble until relocating to Austin in 2007. Since their formation in 2008, The Sour Notes have recorded 2 albums and a 7-inch record, while playing in and around Texas with bands like Ume, Jana Hunter, Marnie Stern[3], Spain Colored Orange and have appeared on the popular KVRX-FM radio program, 'Local Live', 'The Austin Sessions' and the SugarHill Recording Studios webcast, 'Live from SugarHill'.
In January 2009, The Sour Notes went on a 2-week, 12-show East Coast tour in support of their new album, Received in Bitterness[4] and are currently preparing their 3rd album It's Not Gonna Be Pretty, which the band are scheduled to tour on in January 2010.
