Junior dos Santos (January 30, 1984) is a Brazilian mixed martial artist competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Junior dos Santos fights in the Heavyweight division, under the tutelage of former interim Heavyweight Champion Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

Career

Junior dos Santos is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and currently holds a purple belt. Santos is also a kickboxer, and has an undefeated record of 18-0. He currently reigns as the Brazilian heavyweight kickboxing champion.

Junior dos Santos debuted for the UFC at UFC 90. Considered a major underdog, Junior knocked out top contender Fabricio Werdum in the first round with a devastating uppercut.[2] Junior returned and fought Stefan Struve at UFC 95, quickly defeating him in the first round by TKO.

Junior obtained his biggest win to date over Mirko Filipovic at UFC 103.[3] During the third round, Junior dominated Mirko in the clinch with knee strikes, and followed up with punches. The last punch impaired Mirko's vision which resulted in an immediate verbal submission from Filipovic.
