State Route 229 is an east-west state highway in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its eastern terminus is at US Route 23 at Norton, and its western terminus is at US Route 36, at Newcastle.
History
- Originally routed from 1 mile west of Marengo to Mount Vernon.
- Norton to 1 mile west of Marengo was unnumbered before 1938.
- Mount Vernon to Newcastle was route 206 before 1926.
- Mount Vernon to Newcastle was unnumbered from 1926-38.
- Extended to Norton and Newcastle along previous unnumbered roads in 1938.
