State Route 229 is an east-west state highway in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its eastern terminus is at US Route 23 approximately 2 miles south of Waldo, and its western terminus is at US Route 36, at Newcastle.
History
- Originally routed from 1 mile west of Marengo to Mount Vernon.
- Norton to 1 mile west of Marengo was unnumbered before 1938.
- Mount Vernon to Newcastle was route 206 before 1926.
- Mount Vernon to Newcastle was unnumbered from 1926-38.
- Extended to Norton and Newcastle along previous unnumbered roads in 1938.
