Kugel Ball in Railroad Plaza, Lansdale, Pennsylvania

A Kugel ball is a sculpture consisting of a large granite ball supported by a very thin film of water. Water flows beneath a very heavy, perfectly spherical rock from a spherical concave base with the exact same curvature. A Kugel ball can weigh thousands of pounds, but because the thin film of water lubricates it, the ball spins.[1]

Locations of Kugel ball installations include the Science Museum of Virginia[2], Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, the main shopping centre at Bracknell, Berkshire, England, the lobby of the Radisson Blu hotel in Kuwait City, the Somerset Collection shopping center in Troy, Michigan, as well as Railroad Plaza in downtown Lansdale, Pennsylvania and LaJolla, California.
