Jared Corey Kushner (born January 10 1981) is the son of American businessman Charles Kushner. Through his family holding company, he is the owner of The New York Observer; he is also active in his family's real estate investments.

Personal life

Kushner is the son of the New Jersey real estate developer Charles Kushner.[1] Jared graduated from the Frisch School, a private, coed yeshiva high school in Paramus, New Jersey. He graduated from Harvard College in 2003. Prior to his admission, his father had donated $2.5 million to the university.[2][neutrality is disputed]

Notably, the Kushner family donated money to create NYU's Seryl Kushner Deanship, which is named for Jared Kushner's mother.[3] In 2007, Kushner graduated from the New York University Stern School of Business and the New York University School of Law where he pursued a joint program receiving both his JD and MBA degrees.[4]

Kushner married Ivanka Trump, who is the daughter of Donald Trump, on 25 October, 2009. Kushner adheres to Conservadox Judaism;[5] Trump had converted to Judaism at the time of the engagement.[6]

Career

In July 2006, at age 25, Kushner paid $10 million to purchase The New York Observer, a weekly newspaper popular with New York's well-educated elite.[7]

Since purchasing the paper, Kushner has pushed for changes that increased real estate market coverage, a new design on the website, and a new tabloid style for the paper itself.[8] Kushner also started Politicker.com, in part by spinning off a part of the New York Observer and purchasing local political sites such as Politics NJ.[9]

The younger Kushner gained his fortune in real estate working with his father, Charles Kushner, who served time on federal felony charges.[10]

Political activity

Kushner, along with his father and the rest of his family are major contributors to the Democratic Party and to some select Republican candidates. He has contributed over $100,000 to various campaigns.[11]
