Talk:Kshatriya
Dear mr.truth-shall-win,
Most definitely, I shall answer all that you have asked me( to the best of my knowledge)and in a most decent manner. First of all let me add that most of your incorrect and confused knowledge of history and culture comes from a website called dalitstsan something. An anti-hindu An anti-Rajput ,anti-brahmin Anti-India website which operates from bangalore,India. I'll make one thing clear ..the references and citations of such biased and ignorant websites is utterly useless and are not fruitful for a discussion. for.eg--If such a website says that "billions of shudras were killed by brahmins in vedic times"..we cannot accept such an argument for basic reasons of logic.
1) I went through your buddha was african webpage. Allow me to comment. firstly the person who wrote that is a black power african person called Runoko rashidi who has absolutely no qualifications for historical and archaelogical comments. So its understandable that he would want to claim all important historical figures ( including siddhartha the buddha ) as african and shudra. something like orthodox muslims claiming that most of the prophets and holy men of the world were sent by Allah. These kind of theories cannot be accepted. Where is the limit to this nonsense..tomorrow someone will claim that dinosaurs first ruled this earth and buddha, jesus, christ, allah and Krishna are incarnations of dinosaurs.
incredible !
Just for your information.
The foremost researcher on buddhism so far in the world was a Prof Hajime Nakamura (1912-1999).
He has statistically proven that almost all of buddhas sangha were kshatriyas and brahmins (99 % of the sangha..there was just one sudra in the sangha..a barber named upali. Buddha clearly favored the Kshatriyas and brahmins)...and Nakamura was a japanese and one of the most respected scholars of buddhism till date.So there's no question of pro-brahmin or pro-kshatriya bias.
You may care to have a look at this book.

The negro looking face shown on the webpage you posted here is most definitely not a representation of buddha. It has no reference to where it was found..which museum it is kept now in...etc etc. I can make a similar face out of plaster of paris colour it black ..take a photo and put it on a negro supremacy website. The other photos too are also clearly manipulated on photoshop or similar rendering software.
LOL..i have a ganesh idol in my home made of black stone..so what would I infer from that ..Ganesha of the hindu pantheon was a negro ?..or negroes have descended from elephants. Please dont be ridiculous.
Yes I agree with your view that statues are made in the likeness of the people of the regions. E.g Japanese,Chinese ,Tibetan and Korean statues of buddha have oriental features etc Indian ones have indian features etc. then it that case ..we should refer to texts and scriptures.
for 200 years after the buddhas death..his image was only representational...e.g..an empty throne..footprints..a swastika in a lotus flower etc etc..then his first statues as such began being created around 150 AD.That was known as Gandhara style. Later on came the Mathura style. In brief...so to find an answer We look to the earliest texts..The buddhist nikayas !. They clearly describe the historical buddha having Indo-Aryan features. NOT negroid.
this is THE LARGEST website on buddhism on the net. www.attan.com and from that website..you may care to have a look at this book http://www.attan.com/buddha%20image.pdf Perhaps your misconceptions about buddha being a negro will be removed once and for all.
2)you wrote--->I went through the link forwarded by you,the quotation(Kshatriyas are red) allegedly from Mahabharata is actually from Rigveda. The writer need to dig more.I have seen many Rajputs like other castes and races they too are red, fair skined and even blacks(are they shudras)
There is no mention of any word "kshatriya" in the rigveda or any of the other 3 vedas like you said.....Anywhere in any of the 4 vedas. Lets see you find the word kshatriya in any of the vedas..haha.
The word used is "rajanya"..in the purusha shukta hymn(10.92) of the Rigveda. Rajanya=Royal (Indo-Aryan aristocracy)of which the rajputs are descendants.
The colours mentioned do not attribute to skin colours by the way..The attribute to basic natures and proclivities of the 4 castes. Lord Ram and Lord Krishna were of shyam-varna ( dusky skin colour )..and they were aristocracy..Lord Ram was a Raja..and Lord Krishna was a Rajput..skin colour has nothing do with caste. I think your very badly confused.
3)Which buddhists allege that Rajputs are the progeny of Chengis khan ?..The Ambedkar variety of buddhists .hahaha.... Babar was the third or fourth generation after Chengis Khan and after Timur Lang. Chengis Khan was not a muslim ,he was a pagan mongol..towards the end of his life, he may have converted to tibetan buddhism.
and regarding your babur gets invited by rana sanga ?!?! thats totally incorrect ! Now Babur was having sleepless nights because of Rana Sanga, the rajput ruler of Mewar. Babur sent about 1500 choice cavalry to attack Sanga. These were butchered by Sanga's rajputs. Babur wanted to discuss peace terms. For discussions Sanga sent his general Silhadi (Shiladitya). Babur won this general by promising him independent kingdom. Silhadi came back and reported that Babur did not want peace and he wanted to fight. Battle of Khanwa started on March 17, 1527 and Babur's army was being knocked out of the field and victory was certain for Sanga. At this juncture Silhadi and his army left the field and this tilted the war in favor of Babur and he won. [See Annals and Antiquities of Ancient Rajasthan: James Tod. ISBN 8170691281]
So allow me to express this most "decently"....Your knowledge of history is pretty fucked up pal.
Noone disagrees that a few rajputs may have been traitors...so were some sikhs and so were many marathas. Nothing is perfect.
In his New History of India, Stanley Wolpert wrote "The Rajputs were the vanguard of Hindu India in the face of the Islamic onslaught."
ok.
and I'm still waiting for your reference on the "rajputs are bastards" in hindu scriptures. Give me which veda or shastra or purana is it in..the chapter and the verse.
In terms of knowledge ..you'r an amateur....do you even know the sanskrit word for "bastard" ?
99 % of your knowledge is based on a mixture local anti-upper caste rumours, hearsay, you'r own biased reasoning and some agenda you have.
I have no objection to you posting your make-believe shit some place else..but dont try it here. All people are not suckers to believe anything.
understood ?

Mr Rajput
Shall you ever learn decent ways of communicating.Plz answer following questions too.
1.How come Abhira and bir gurjara clan exist among Rajputs.Do you want to suggest Abhirs(also known as Ahirs among local people)came to be known so after serving under these Rajputras or do you want to say Gurjaras emerged after serving under Bir gurjars.
Nobody would buy your logic for history of Abhira predates even Aryan ones and Gurjar history is at least prior to rajputs.
2.You are so fondly quoting Buddhist scriptures,do you know ,Budhists allege that Rajputs emerged as progeny of Chengese Khan, and joined hands with Mughals who also claimed lineage through him.Rana Sanga had invited Babar and had great expectations from him (why so?)which were denied to him later on .Rajputs became helping hands and most trusted partner during Mughal rule. 3.The illegitimate claim of Rajputs of being legitimate Kshatriya is due to their proximity to power during Mughals and endorsement by english who wanted similar help from them and enforcement by Brahmanas (may be this was the only way hinduism could have survived)
http://www.essaysbyekowa.com/Buddha%20the%20African.htm http://www.onmarkproductions.com/html/shaka.shtml plz go through these two links and try to see what are the physical features of Buddha in ancient sculptures. As the time passed by every race ,including indians, tried to attribute their physical characters to Buddha. Rest I will tell you later. I went through the link forwarded by you,the quotation(Kshatriyas are red) allegedly from Mahabharata is actually from Rigveda. The writer need to dig more.I have seen many Rajputs like other castes and races they too are red, fair skined and even blacks(are they shudras)Ha Ha ha.
Dear Mr.Truth shall win.
1.There is absolutely no proof that Buddha was indian.all ancient statues shows him with negroid face.
What do you mean by that..Buddha was born in Africa or India is part of africa ? Of course...He must have been a Japanese samurai warrior ?..or perhaps a polynesian.
Listen Mr.Satyameva Jayate ! Let's do this one at a time. The present boundaries of India were frozen in the year 1947 by the british. The birthplace of buddha (lumbini )fell into Nepal due to this. Buddha was born in a land which was once known as Bharatvarsha. ..can we agree on that ?
considering your negroid features claim. Read the original description of the Buddha's physical characteristics from the Digha Nikaya of the ORIGINAL pali canon. It says ..and i quote in brief--> amongst other features...He had Blue eyes..golden skin ( a metaphor for white skinned ) and sharp aquiline features. ( which negro has blue eyes or white skin and sharp features"? ) or if you think Im manipulating information check out this own article by wikipedia [[1]]
and umm which so called statues are you talking of ?.....I challenge you to upload even one sculpture of buddha which show him with negroid features. ( If you are trying to refer to his coiled hair, Those were Dreadlocks which ascetics( sadhus ) in India wear their hair as. to this date.)
2) Yes ,Unlike you I do have a little basic working knowledge of Sanskrit. Ashwa means horse and Aries is not a sanskrit word, neither does it mean horse in sanskrit.
In Sanskrit, word ashva (Iranian aspa, Prakrit assa) means "horse", and ashvaka (Prakrit assaka) means "horseman". Pre-Christian times knew the people of eastern Afghanistan as Ashvakas (horsemen), since they raised a fine breed of horses and had a reputation for providing expert cavalrymen. The fifth-century-BCE Indian grammarian Panini calls them Ashvayana and Ashvakayana. Classical writers use the respective equivalents Aspasios (or Aspasii, Hippasii) and Assakenois (or Assaceni/Assacani, Asscenus).
refer to wikipedia webpage-->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_country_name_etymologies
The word Aries is LATIN for "ram"....understood ?
Once again You may check out this own article by wikipedia about the etmyology of the word aries --->[[2]]
3)Which scripture in Hinduism calls the rajputs "bastards" ? Give the name of the scripture..the verse/shloka number etc before you make your floundering claims based on your illegitimate knowledge.
4)The only historians( credible) till date who have actually researched on the rajputs as an outsider was the British Col.Todd.and Charles Johnston.Their work is taken as a benchmark for all subsequent researches (See the points discussion below by Kartavya Viryaa Singh jamval).
Johnston's ethnological deduction in his Imperial and Asiatic Quarterly Review for October, 1893, is as follows: "That the Kshatriyas of ancient India are identical in ethnic characteristics with the Rajputs of today." The Red Rajputs are the descendants of the solar race, a race of kings, of mystical men who not only could learn of mystic occultism but could also fight and rule, which is contrary to the regulation for the Brahman. see this URL-->[3]
You'r other so called foreign tribes like saka (scythian)..Hunas( Hun ) and Khambojas are also mentioned in the Drona Parva chapter of the Mahabharata..and they were treated then as mlecchas( non-vedic foreigners).....Even then ,They were not converted to Kshatriyas or Rajputs as you claim. and the mahabharata happened centuries before the muslims came in India.
There is a theory that there were foreign tribes who assimilated within the Rajput fold( there is still debate on that topic)..It was first mentioned by Col.Todd....it may be true ...may not be.so don't act like you are an authority on the topic especially since it's apparent that you know less than chickenshit.
I know a Historian who thinks you have descended from pond-scum--- Now if i say that would you believe me or would I be correct in assuming so ?
5)You wrote-->I don't know if Rajputs have any legacy at all, because they have always ruled under Muslims like their agents and never as independant rulers.
By Now..I think you know nothing about anything. You've ever heard of Prithviraj Chauhan and Rana Pratap?..perhaps in your knowledge they were dependant agents of the muslim kings ??
regarding your last point( Raja mansingh, kacchwaha etc )and by the way its not keshuwaha as you wrongly wrote..Its KACCHWAHA.
Many Rajput kings and their chieftains employed serfs and agrarian classes to fill up their armies, since the recurring Islamic invasions had left their armies depleted. So these classes ( shudras..if you want to be casteist) took up the clan names and surnames of their leaders as their own. Hence you have the Maratha surnames chavan coming from the Rajput Chauhan and the Maratha surname Pawar coming from the Rajput Parmara.
and finally Dear Mr.Satyameva Jayate, Your Anti-Rajput , anti-brahmin, slightly Anti-hindu propaganda cannot change fiction into fact.
Infact , You appear to be the one who's bullied ,I guess you have a feeling of inferiority about your origins( whatever they may be..I'm guessing you are pakistani or Fundamentalist anti-hindu..but who knows ! ) .
you are not contributing to any talk on Kshatriya /All you've been doing is trying to run down Rajput lineage and making preposterous statements.
Next time when you are posting ...It would be nice if you give an authentic citation or proof of your claims .I guess this is wikipedia's policy . Read what is written here on wikipedia -->Content must not violate any copyright and must be based on verifiable sources. By editing here, you agree to license your contributions under the GFDL.
--give some proof of accepted and valid scriptural references or webpages or links (Like I have)..otherwise your arguments dont count for diddly-squat.
So,Dear Mr.Truth-will-win...if you scream out a lie 10,000 times , it doesnt morph into a truth.
waiting for your reply, Shonan Talpade.
Dear Mr Rajput(foolhardy)
You have shown rigidity in understanding which is nothing new to rest of world-it runs deep into your blood. No need calling others name try to peep into your own.You have got rigid-frigid mindset which refuses to accept logic.
1.There is absolutely no proof that Buddha was indian.all ancient statues shows him with negroid face. 2.Sanskrit ari do mean Enemy(do you have knowledge of sanskrit?).I think your knowledge is too supeficial when you authentically said ashwa is for horse. My dear friend Ari or aries(which means horse) is etymologically linked with other languages viz persian from where aryans are supposed to flock in.This word became synonym for enemy because of feud of Brahmanas with these kshatriya. 3.Rajputra or Rajput has been used derogatorily as a term for bastard sons of kings in our scriptures,do you want to deny it.I don't know if Rajputs have any legacy at all, because they have always ruled under Muslims like their agents and never as independant rulers. 4.Rajputs emerged after Muslims came to India.Historians believe they emerged out of foreign tribes like sakas, kambojas etc.who had long been bullied as shudras. 5.If you want to suggest that Rajputs emerged from existing Kshatriyas-noway-dear Rajput you don't have clans to justify that for - 5.1 No yaduvanshi became rajput .why so? 5.2 clan of raja Mansingh is Keshuwaha, same caste exist among OBCs. How can you say this clan was not made rajput by conversion.
Dear Rajput if you dig deep you will find there is very little among Rajputs to show to rest of world. You people are smart in mixing with outsiders for your blood is perhaps the mix of saka, kambojas ,hanas,Muslims. I hope you will soon learn some decent ways to communicate now.
SATYAMEV JAYATE
Dear editor The person who posted the note below is a crank who lives in pune city ,India and is on a crusade to invent some jain maratha kshatriya lineage to the beginning of time.
1) Shaka ( widely understood as scythian ) is different from shakya.
2) I wonder what proof is there of buddha being ( non-indian) ?..i pray that individual doesnt say he was nepali.lol
3)What negroid origin is he talking of.....Buddha or his own ? ( give some credible proof ! )
4) The 96 clans of marathas ( known in Marathi as shanav kuli )didnt exist before the 17th century. They were agrarian and serf class who were given soldier status by the Peshwa Brahmins to fight against the Mughals and the British.
5)and Dear Mr. Vishal Prakash Dudhane.... Your community's( Maratha ) long standing historical bias against the Rajputs and brahmins should not be made part of scripture. ( Refer to the point 4 above. )
No one disputes that the marathas have also produced great warriors in the past...but that has no bearing on what the rajputs should be or shouldnt be. Iam Maharashtrian myself ( of authentic Rajput lineage)..so I know a bit when im being bullshitted about this.
6) How the hell did ari be equated to sanskrit horse....the word for horse in sanskrit is "ashwa". (laughing My head off on this.)
with best regards, Shonan Talpade
To the Person who added this comment.----> Due to conversion during Buddhism, many had given up their caste identities allowing Brahmin priests to convert neo-kshatriyas like the Rajputs as the new warrior clans.
Could you kindly give an authentic and relevant citation or reference for this ? Who claims that buddhists original or converted gave up their caste identities ? especially when the buddha himself did not !
“And now I, the venerable and fully enlightened one, was born a warrior and have come from the caste of warriors, o monks.” ---Buddha from the scripture-->Mahapadana Suttanta - Great Sermon on the Legends.
To Siddharta and the monks that listened to him, not only the varna, the hierarchical class but also the jati, the clan respectively the family were of substantial importance. For example, he tells about Buddha Vipassi that he belonged to the Kondanna clan. About himself Siddharta reports that he is a kshatriya and was born in the Gotama clan. Not only his clan but also his parents’ name and place of residence is stated, probably in order to prove Buddha’s necessary high mundane birth. The text shows that they were all Rajas and brahmanas
The Bodhisattvas appear only in two kinds of lineage, the one of the brahmanas and of the warriors (kshatriya).”--Lalitavistara

Why Kshatriya was the "highest caste"
- (The information in this section was added by an anonymous user who deleted earlier comments. I've reverted this page so that the earlier comments are preserved (in the section "Objections to Kshatriya as "highest caste") and I'm pasting in this section the anonymous comments that replaced them. This is in the interest of having a complete discussion on the matter and not losing anyone's input. --LeeHunter 13:09, 14 Aug 2004 (UTC))
I am at a loss for words to understand how westerners can act with such authority regarding aspects of Indian culture.
regarding the original caste system.....The position of the Kshatriya in earlier times as compared to now has been clearly mentioned and described. The explanation, context etc has been clearly mentioned . The socio-political changes as well as the spiritual context both have been given.
now scripturally ---the Brihadaranyaka-Upanishad , "This knowledge of the absolute brahman spirit has never before dwelt in any Brahman priest," that Krishna, the great King and Sage, was a Kshatriya, while next comes Buddha, admitted by the Hindus to be an Avatara, who was also a Kshatriya, all being held by him to be Rajputs. Krishna traced his doctrine from the Kshatriya Manu through a line of Rajarshis or Rajanya sages. This is in the Bhagavad-Gita, where the last personage named in the line is Ikshvaku, of whose race was Buddha. Hence he ascribes the spirit of the Upanishads and of Buddhism to the mystical genius of the Rajanya race
On this we have in the Upanishads these words: "The Brahman sat at the foot of the Kshatriya." This upholds the spiritual dignity of the Rajanyas, who are the Kshatriyas and the Red Rajputs.
From the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:---( Part 1 chapter 4 , 11 )
In the beginning this (the kshatriya and other castes) was indeed Brahman, one only without a second. He, being one, did not flourish. He projected, further, an excellent form, kshatriyahood—those kshatriyas (rulers) among the gods: Indra, Varuna, Soma (Moon), Rudra, Parjanya, Yama, Mrityu (Death), and Isana. Therefore there is none higher than the kshatriyas. Thus at the Rajasuya sacrifice, the brahmin sits below and worships the kshatriya. He confers that glory on kshatriyahood alone.
- the Upanishads are later than the Vedas
- the Upanishads "anarchic" in the sense that they try to take away the "spiritual monopoly" from the Brahmins. The passage you cite attacks the Brahmins exactly because they were the highest caste: they try to say something shocking. It they would say: "Never was Brahman in a Shudra", people would shrug. But by saying "never was Brahman in a Brahmin, i.e. the highest caste", they are revolutionary.
- this discussion belongs on Varna (caste), or Upanishads.
- I retained your "apex of society" sentence, putting it in perspective by saying that this is what the Rajputs claim.
Secondly Another ridiculous theory that has been posted here is that the Rajputs are descendants of HUNS ?! ?!? ?!? ?!? !
- well, I removed the Huns, while retaining the two possibilities (hybrid vs. pure kshtriya).
A british scholar Col.Tod who originally propunded this 'Theory' admitted himself that this was just a theory. There has been no concrete evidence for the same.
Charles Johnston, a member of the Royal Academy of Science and retired from the British Civil Service of India studied rajput ethnicity in the MOST detail and Johnston's ethnological deduction , published in a journal in 1893 ,is as follows: "That the Kshatriyas of ancient India are identical in ethnic characteristics with the Rajputs of today." The Red Rajputs are the descendants of the solar race, a race of kings, of mystical men who not only could learn of mystic occultism but could also fight and rule, which is contrary to the regulation for the Brahman priest.
and lastly regarding the knowledge of the sanskrit language... I really dont know which webpages are you good people getting your 'vast ' knowledge of sanskrit from ? ?
how many here have actually studied sanskrit ?
I really have no comment on that .
- this from somebody who says kshatriya comes from the sanskrit root word 'kshetra' :-) maybe I should dig up the pertaining Panini-Sutras to convince you?
- there are two roots kSi: one meaning "rule" is a seT root, belonging to the first present-class. The other meaning "settle, inhabit" contains true -y- and belongs to second and sixth present-class. kSatra "dominion" derives from the former, kSetra "field" from the latter. Dbachmann
someone wrote:------------- "Without objective accuracy, it is easy to blur the line between myth, prejudice and historical scholarship." I agree totally. This is not about some nationalistic bravado or cultural jingoism as is claimed, but rather an objective understanding of the truth.
If all you folks are connected with wikipedia,I would be more than glad to stop posting here, The original intent was to undo the damage done by false and erroneous posts.
I request that this practice of armchair intellectualism be discarded and at the least, explanations and understandings about OUR culture and OUR religion be left to us.
thanking you,
with best regards,
A RAJPUT.
- Dear Rajput. Thanks for finally giving some feedback. I am a westerner: "tribally" I would probably be Alemannic :-) Now, I wouldn't dream of claiming any inherent competence on editing an article on Alemans because of that. Do you see where I'm getting at? You need to do research and to state your sources regardless of your ancestry. Now, since you came up with some references here, I encourage you to try to neutrally work them into the article, rather than just shouting your opinion all over it. Objections to Kshatriya as "highest caste"
somebody anonymously keeps adding that the kshatriya were "originally" the highest caste. I removed this when NPOVing the article, but now it's back, and in boldface. It seems this opinion is held by the Rajput or something, but I know of nothing that would warrant this belief.
Now if this person would at least give a source to support this. Heck, we can even put, "the Rajput of Rajasthan have a tradition that the kshatriya were on top" or something. Until we arrive at such a version, I encourage passers-by to remove this. I have no intention of baby-sitting this article, or any article beleaguered by nationalistic crackpots, for that matter. Let me just say, if you are the person adding this, kindly give your source. Ah, and it's okay to remove the bold type, too. If you are just a friendly wikipedian, do the article a favour and remove any "kshatriyas rule!" stuff ;-) -- Dbachmann 21:02, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement with this point, and encourage the person doing the anonymous changes to discuss their point of view here rather than just editing the article. --Ilya 17:42, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I've added a hidden comment to the code directing that person to this page. They may not be aware of the Discussion feature. --LeeHunter 18:02, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
This article is very erroneous and lacks any merit. It exhibits little knowledge of the language "sanskrit" and ancient Indic texts and archeological artifacts (physical evidence). Although the author wants to avoid the context of an obsolete hypothesis that is ironically called Aryan Invasion _Theory_, the article's speculative conclusions are based on exactly the unscientific and unsound phenotype (not genotype) and phonetic (not linguistic) correlations that the Aryan Invasion Theory was based on.
The Sanskrit word "kSatriya" is derived from "kSatra" (defense, power, rule of a territory), "kSatriya" means "dedicated or related to "kSatra". Similarly the word "brahmana" or brahmanya" means "dedicated to the knowledge of Brahma". Heirarchy was not the determinant. Even the teachers (AchArya)of martial arts or weaponry were known as the "Brahman", but the practitioners of martial arts or defense were "kSatriya". So dharma (or duty") were different according to the profession. ParaSurama or DroNa were Brahmana, the teachers (AchArya) of Taxila were the brahmana. The professional responsibilities defined the four "varna" of brAhmana, kSatriya, waiSya, and sudra.
In Sanskrit, there are two words "varna" and "jati", the former is the most ancient and does not translate into the english word "caste". It reinforces another confusion where Brahminical revival (around 10th century)is confused with the spiritual and social context of the ancient word "brahma" and the professional association of the "brahmana". "-put" in "Rajput" is not a sanskrit suffix for son. Raj-put originated from the word Rajputana (a mixed word variation from the sanskrit word rAjasthAna, the region of royal palaces). The word is not ancient and has no reference in the Vedic texts.
The aspect of Indo-european migration is very complex: one has to address the controversial and unexplained origin and distribution of the Phoenician as well. Phoenician context can complicate the misinformed hypothesis on "assimilation" of the pagan. Vedanta and Vaiseshika branches of Hindu philosophy have hardly any similarity with the "pagan" and were part of the ancient Vedic tradition. Buddhists mathematicians and philosophers relied on the early abstract philosophies of the Hindu Vedic/Tatric tradition.
Without objective accuracy, it is easy to blur the line between myth, prejudice and historical scholarship.
Rajput Origins
Dear Mr Dbachmann,
I appreciate your knowledge on Indiology and indeed much of the information you wrote is quite accurate, but you still havent removed the references connecting rajput lineage to the Huns and that we are descended from the invaders who attacked India from the northwest.
So I am deleting that myself, if there's no objection.
You gave the reference of the manu smriti for the hierarchy of races and castes. Thats excellent..BUT theres a slight problem....the Manu smriti is a law book .Its not a religious treatise.
actually nowhere in the hindu scriptures will you find the superiority of any caste over the other. if you give me the example of the Purusha shakta of the rigveda, it outlines the function..not the hierarchy of the castes.races Its by spiritual and mystical right that the Kshatriya was on the top of the society ( which I was 'shouting' about all this while.)
secondly, sir, If i may say so..most of the information that you have posted here are direct copy pastes of other webpages.
I can prove it to you, sentence by sentence with the corresponding website/page that you have copy pasted from.(if you wish) e.gs..britannica encyclopaedia etc.
I dont know about copyright violations etc, but this doesnt reflect well with your own view of objective and sincere research.
Thirdly,
Your borrowed claim that the Rajputs have obscure ancestry beyond 1000AD in the kshatriya webpage..is..(if i may use the word )in utter ignorance.
The Mewar Line goes up to the Era of Lord Ram (around 5000 BC ) if that is imaginable and conceivable by western society. They even have records which i believe arent doctored by any brahmins as in Shivaji's case. They are kept in the archives of Udaipur palace in rajasthan till date.
Mr Dbachmann,I frankly dont know and dont care about the allegmanic race...but I respect people who are aware of their own roots. my regards to you. And sir thank you very very much :) ..i know my own lineage..descended from King Prithu of the vedic age around 700 BC.
we dont need to prove such things..its only the limited western mind, which doesnt think its evolutionarily, socially and chronologically possible due to its own conditionings.
Mr. Dbachmann, it was nice having a discourse with you ( which i cant say for the other belligerent, internet-learnt morons here ).
my best regards,
your friendly neighbourhood rajput chauvinist.
K V S J.
- dear KVSJ -- first of all, you seem to think that I am responsible for this entire article. I did however only contribute to the etymological section, and thus became involved in the "Rajput dispute". While other parts of the article (including the Huns bit and anything that may have been (legally) copied from the 1911 britannica) was not written by me at all. You will get a clearer picture of who wrote what by utilizing the "history" page. Please understand that a Wikipedia article is the result of a complicated interaction of several contributors (including you, since you decided to add and to remove information)
- Others of your points concern the aims (and style) of WP articles. It is, for example, not acceptable to put entire paragraphs in boldface ("shouting") just to emphasize them. Such paragraphs will almost without fail be removed after a short time. Concerning your convictons about remote history and the "western mind": It is certainly possible to express them all under appropriate headings, but, since WP is a "western style" encyclopedia and not Hindu scripture, they will have to be qualified: i.e. You will have to say "according to such and such a tradition/scripture" and may then go on to quote whatever that tradition tells us. You may not, however, remove conflicting statements from other sources. WP does not aim to decide on a certain truth, but is content to report different, possibly conflicting views, including western ones. I do not know the background about the "Hunnic" issue, but if there is a scientific view that claims hunnic incursions to Rajasthan, you may not simply remove it, even if your tradition rejects such a view. We call this "Neutral Point of View" (NPOV), i.e. the attempt to give different views equally fair expression without the attempt to decide the matter. This is in itself scientific "western" procedure, so I am afraid that "eastern" traditions will necessarily acquire a somewhat folkloristic touch on WP, but they may by all means be duly expressed. dab 14:57, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Hi, I am enjoying reading this discussion but I do find that Dbachmann getting a bit personal and condescending, for ex. western "science", eastern "folklore." This is a kind of prejudism that makes for misinformation. Dbachmann is already coming from the mindset that the western point of view is more "neutral" or more "objective." There is a long history of scientific thinking (lokayatra) and logic (naya) in Vedic Indian culture. There is also a long history of folklore and superstition in western culture. Even the lines of east and west are actually quite blurry as much of Greek culture was as influenced by the Egyptians, Persians and Indians as well, probably more so. There is always a centric viewpoint to any history, including and especially those in the west, as evidence has pointed out over and over again.
- Another point of interest is that Encylopaedias have existed in the Eastern hemisphere a lot longer than in the west. Even in the middle east -- and example is the library of Alexandria in Egypt -- ironically burned down by Christians during the Crusades because it showed evidence of advanced civilization that preceeded Christianity and that was not European. The Muslim Arabs were just as bad in destroying libraries of course.
- Ok even in modern times east and west gets blurred. Is mathematics eastern or western? Is logical reasoning? The Scientific Method? Evidence shows that all of these ideas existed in the east while the west was in the dark ages and that many ideas travelled via the Greeks and Turks. And many of the scientists that were involved in the telecommunications and aeronautical advancements of the west were indeed Indian immigrants. The west had the money to use their brains. Does this mean that they can take credit for their ideas?
- well, your accusations seem a bit strange. I am the first to admit that Indian mathematics and linguistics were the most advanced on the planet, back in 400 BC. But that is 2400 years ago now. I don't care whether sense comes from the east or the west, as long as it is sense. For the past 300 years, sense came out of the west. maybe that is changing again, I don't know. This is beside the point here, we are not putting eastern science against western science, or eastern folklore against western folklore, but eastern folklore against western science; seeing that, it doesn't matter whether the science is from the east or the west. India was leading in the humanities in 400 BC. By 700 AD, China had overtaken, and Indian history has to be pieced together from Chinese (not western) travel accounts. It's nice to be proud of your history, but what does it tell you if people have to look back more than 2 millennia to find something to be proud of? In any case, arguing from a 'culture clash' perspective is shirking the actual argument here. Just because India has a proud history doesn't make traditional Rajput claims any truer. dab (ᛏ) 05:41, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
Kshatriya was the "highest" caste?
Hi what I have learnt in my secondary school history lesson is that the Kshatriyas were originally in the highest caste in the Early Aryan period and after that, the Brahmins became the highest caste. That's what my textbook wrote and my teacher said that too.
- they taught you that, in Singapur? See Rajput, it would certainly be what people learn in school in Rajasthan. You should check you textbook for references, so we can include those. dab (ᛏ) 10:22, 3 Feb 2005 (UTC)
ORIGIN of Kshatriya
The word Kshatriya finds its root in Bhagwad Gita .Lord Krishna was the propounder or Prophet of this religion .Earlier version was Rajnya .We found many races vying for this title nowadays. It is rather ridiculous for Krishna prounded this religion based on karma or work philosophy. All those who claims to be ORIGINAL kshatriya should look deep inside and try to find out what they are trying to claim.Their claim itself reveals that they had been conferred such a title at some point of time and that too in KALIYUGA for the Philosophy of Gita was prounded at the battlefield at the end of Dwapar.Soon after Lord Krishna declared the start of kaliyuga. So All these Rajputs,Khatris etc. etc. etc. should boldly bear in mind their claim of being kshatriya means descendant of our great Rajnya lord Rama is fake one.Being Kshatriya -very well indeed if you are -does not mean you people are descandant of that great race. All these existing Kshatriya(should I say recognised ones) were made based on the philosophy of Gita and never try to befool others that you people are carrying their genes. All of you are mere creation of Brahmanas otherwise why should yoy accept their authority.Original Rajnya was supreme and was considered incarnation of God and were worshipped too like lord Rama or Krishna .The same is not true with these Rajput Kings.

Editor Note :- While reading this clans it should be noted that the main clans and their sub-clans or line may differ from time to time or by book to book and always use to change because as time passes some clans loss their glory, kingdom and some clans come in to limelight as it is a play of nature. One should note that in olden days in very harsh conditions due to many reasons people use to go underground , change the habitat ,nation or city , change their names to hide oneself because of various reasons as grate wars, foreign invaders such as Islam, Turks, Mangol, British or of due to any crime or opposition with ruling government. Evidence suggest this possibilities that clans , people change their names and clans but do not change cast and use to continue under different names or clans in the new region , nation, city or government. It is difficult process to identify and prepare 100% correct clans line. Errors and omission are ask, requested . My good intention should always bee kept in mind while reading this article. One more impotant thing I have noted that I found many surnames , clans of Maratha which are not include in this list. The reason behind it is needed to find out .

Six Shakakarte king in present Kaliyuga
This Kaliyuga is now running . It is 4,32,000 human years long. From this Kaliyuga 5,106 years have been passed untill the present year 2005 and 4,26,894 years are to go in future age .
Timeline of Kaliyuga calendar dating :-
1) Yudhishthir ( Dharmaraj ):- Ruled in Indraprastha (Capital city Delhi of India ) and started his own calendar dating in the year 3,102 B.C ( Before Jesus Christ or Christian or current Roman calendar dating ). He was the elder brother of Pandav of the great Indian war of Mahabharat . His dating continued for 3,044 years until king Vikrama , the second Shakkarta king broke it and started his own dating or the new Shaka .
2) King Vikrama :- Ruled in Ujjain city ( Present day Ujjain city in Madhyapradesh state of India ) in the year 57 B.C . He started his own calendar dating by breaking the old Yudhishthir Shaka . But his dating was continued only for 135 year’s as the third Shakakarta king King Shalivahan at Paithan city in Maharashtra state near by Aurangabad city came in power and broke the running Vikrama Shaka . Allthough in north India still the Vikrama Shaka is running , it is said that some kind of understanding or truce was fixed up between these two grate kings to continue both the calendar in their respective areas or nations .
3) King Shalivahan :- Ruled in the old city Paithan of Maharashtra state in the year 78 A.D. , that is after 78 years later Jesus Christ or the Christian dating started . The Maratha cast has a clan after this grate king . This king is mentioned in old Christian books as it is written that King Shalivahan had meet the founder of Christian religion ,The Jesus Christe himself on a tripe to grate Himalaya mountains. His Shaka will continue for 18,000 years that is for Eighteen thousand years. That comes to in the year 18,078 this Shalivahan Shaka will be broken , discontinued by the next coming Shakakarta king and his name is King Vijayabhinandan , who will happened on the banks of the river of Vaitarna in Thane district of near Bombay city or Mumbai city of Maharashtra state . Need not to say that this grate king Shalivahan was from Maratha cast. Any rational person can come to this conclusion. Historical evidence had it that the Satvahan alias Shalivahan ruled at Paithan city of Maharashtra in the time 30 B.C. TO 230 A.D.
4) King Vijayabhinandan ( coming ) :- This great king will happen on the banks of river Vaitarna probabely in Thane district of Maharashtra state . This place is near the Bombay alias Mumbai city . And the river Vaitarna folws in Thane district of Maharashtra state . He will break the King Shalivahan Shaka and start his own Shaka or the calendar dating . This is a kind or prophecy of Hindu religion . This king Vijayabhinandan will happen in year 18,078 A.D or after Jesus Christ . His Shaka will run , continue for 10,000 years . That does mean that in the year 28,078 A.D after Jesus Christ his Shaka or dating will be broken , discontinued by the next Shakakarta king Nagarjuna who will happen in the Bangal state of India. As this king Vijayabhinandan is to happen in the region of Maharshtra it is certain that he will be from Maratha cast.
5) King Nagarjun ( Coming ) :- He will be the fifth grate Shkakarta king of Kaliyuga. He will happen, appear in Bangal state of India in the year 28078 A.D . He will terminate the shaka or calendar of Vijayabhinandan and start his own calendar or shaka and that will continue for 4,00,000 years afterward. This Nagarjuna has the most long running calendar in Kaliyuga Shaka dating.
6) King Kalki ( coming ) :- He is the last and final shakakarta king of the Kaliyuga . As Hinu religion has predicted that there are ten Avatar of lord Vishnu , this king Kalki is the tenth and final avatar of that series . He is the final avatara who will end the present Kaliyuga and again start the cycle if yuga that is the Satya yuga will be started after this grand termination .Hindu religion has prediction that he will come on a white horse . This Kalki avatar will happen , appear in the region of Kolhapur of Maharashtra state in India . He will end the then running shaka of Nagarjuna and start his own shaka or dating or calendar in the year 4,28,078 A.D. His calendar or shaka will run for 821 years. Then perhaps the final day of judgement will come mentioned in christain religion. As This king is to happen in the state of Maharashtra it is obviously certain that he will be from Maratha cast.
