Vinagre is a VNC client for the GNOME desktop environment. It was included in GNOME 2.22. It has several features, like the ability to connect to multiple servers simultaneously and switch between them by tabs, VNC servers browsing and bookmarking. However, it lacks other features existing in other VNC clients, such as establishing an SSH tunnel, or controlling frame compression, color depth and frame rate.

Since Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) was released, Vinagre has been included in the default installation as the official VNC client for Ubuntu.[1]

Future versions of Vinagre are planned to include the ability to connect to Microsoft-based machines using RDP.[2]
