Hassan Abbasi, is claimed to be one of "strategic adviser" to the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (reference needed) He calls himself the head of an unknown center called Center for Doctrinal Analysis, as a political strategic think-tank in the Islamic Republic. [1]. However, in the official web-page of this center, there are only some of his talks.

Abbasi has strong opinions against concepts like civil society, human rights, and religious pluralism.

In press reports in Western neo-conservative publications, he was reported to have been one of the five Iranian diplomats arrested by United States forces in Irbil, Iraq. This report is false and has been dismissed by him in his talks. Hassan Abbasi was not captured by U.S. forces in Irbil, and is in fact in Iran and is still giving talks at universities throughout Iran on a frequent basis.

Abassi is a veteran of the Iran-Iraq war. He gives talks frequently at universities throughout Iran on various political topics. Mainly, he is invited for talk in universities by Basij, a pseudo-military group, backed by the Iran supreme leader. However, he has not been taken serious by the majority of the students. A European-based Iranian opposition group of political refugees alleges that Hassan Abbasi is a false name. However this claim has never been verified. Abbasi has used his name for decades to give talk in Iranian universities, before and after his media attention.

In one of his speeches he claimed that Iranian strategists have determined, using game theory, that economic sanctions on Iran would result in the price of oil going to $110.00 per barrel, and a military attack on Iran would result in the price of oil reaching up to $400.00 per barrel. Consequently, he argues, any talk in the West of an attack on Iran over its nuclear program is a bluff.

Abbasi calls himself a doctor, with a Ph.D. degree, but has always refused to clarify the university from which he graduated or his adviser. He even claims that he has supervised some Ph.D. dissertations, but it has not been confirmed by an independent source. He is not faculty member in any universities in Iran.
