John-Edward Kelly attended Florida State University from approximately 1976 to approximately 1980. He earned no degree. He studied saxophone with Patrick Meighan while there. He played soprano saxophone in the FSU Saxophone Quartet, as well as in various wind groups conducted primarily by Carl Bjerregaard. This has been added to his biographical article on at least two occasions, and has been removed by another editor, whom I believe may have contact with Mr. Kelly. It is my belief that, as a biographical article, it is not appropriate to re-write a biography to suit a particular viewpoint and essentially deny where one was for four years, and who was an individual's primary teacher at a certain time. I have substantial documentary evidence to back up all assertions in this talk contribution.(Antonin1841 (talk) 14:56, 26 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]
I have my facts straight. I have concert programs indicating Mr. Kelly's attendance at FSU at least until the spring semester of 1979. His assertions that he was primarily a clarinetist at FSU are pure fantasy. The music archives at FSU also contain thousands of programs dating back to long before Mr. Kelly attended FSU. I have personally viewed these archives and found no programs of Mr. Kelly as a clarinetist in any meaningful capacity. He did, in fact, perform the Brahms clarinet sonatas back-to-back on a program while there, but on the alto saxophone. It is unfortunate that Mr. Kelly or someone close to him has sent messages to me directing me to stop "rewriting his biography." Kelly Biography
It would seem that Mr Kelly would know more about the details of his biography than anyone else. "Facts" also don't alway tell the story they might seem to. If you have questions, why don't you contact him and clarify the matter directly?
