Ciro Capuano (born 10 August 1981 in Naples, Italy) is an Italian footballer presently playing for Calcio Catania in the Italian Serie A.
Career
Capuano started his professional career with Empoli F.C. when he was promoted from their youth sqaud in 1999. However he would not make a single appearance with the club. In 2000 Capuano moved north to play his football with Pisa Calcio. From 2000-2004 he managed 7 goals in an impressive 99 appearances. He was purchased by Serie A side Bologna F.C. 1909 following his impressive spell with Pisa. In his first season with Bologna the club was relegated and so he spent the next season with them in Serie B. His 51 appearances for the club managed to find him as a sought after defender by many Serie A clubs. In 2006 he was snapped up by Palermo. In two and a half seasons in the Sicilian capital, Capuano made just 19 appearances for the club, scoring one goal. He was behind both Fabio Grosso and then Federico Balzaretti during his time with the club. In January 2009, Capuano was sent out on loan to bitter rivals Calcio Catania. He managed 16 appearances for the Eastern Sicilian side in his six-month loan spell, and after that impressive form, Catania sports director Pietro Lo Monaco snatched him permanently in June 2009. He is one of eight transfers in, already by the Sicilian club as they seek Europa League football next season. [1].
