Waukesha North High School is a high school in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and part of the Waukesha School District.[1] It officially opened its' doors at mid-semester during the 1974-'75 school year, the northside students transferring from Waukesha South High School to North.

The school has been recognized several times for its unique "rotating" schedule and advisory program,[2] along with being noted for its numerous WSMA state marching band championships.[3] The school is part of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the Classic 8 Conference[4] in athletics. North's nickname is the "Northstars" and the school mascot is a polar bear, known as, "Sparky."

Clubs

Waukesha North is a significant contributor to Invisible Children, Inc.,[5] and has raised thousands of dollars to contribute to Layibi Secondary School, in northern Uganda. Waukesha North is one of three schools whose students participate in C.O.R.E. 2062, a FIRST Robotics Competition Team. The four-year-old team has been very successful, winning the Rookie All Star Award in 2007, the Wisconsin Regional (Milwaukee) in 2008, and the 10,000 Lakes Regional (Minneapolis)in 2010. In 2008, they also won the World Safety Award, the Wisconsin Regional Safety Award, the St. Louis Safety Award, the Entrepreneurship Award and the Website Award.

Marching Band

The Waukesha North Northstar band has been extremely successful the last few years winning the WSMA Marching Band State Championship in 1992, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2009. The Northstar Band will also be participating in the 2010 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade[6] in New York City. The band has participated in the parade in several years as well as the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California. In addition to marching in these two parades, the Northstar Band has performed as the halftime show for the Green Bay Packers in 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, and 2002.[7]
