Date Night is an upcoming comedy film directed by Shawn Levy and starring Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, James Franco, Mila Kunis and Common. It is set to be released on April 9, 2010 in the US.[3]

Plot

Claire and Phil Foster (Tina Fey and Steve Carell) are a New Jersey married couple with two children whose domestic life has become routine. In an effort to reignite romance, Phil takes Claire, with whom he usually has a weekly "date night" at a local steakhouse, on a date night to a trendy, hard-to-get-into Manhattan seafood restaurant, where after taking a no-show couple's reservations, they find themselves in a case of mistaken identity involving two corrupt cops (Common, Jimmi Simpson), the Manhattan District Attorney (William Fichtner), a mobster (Ray Liotta) and other eccentric characters in a long night of running for their lives throughout the borough.[4][5]

Filming began in mid-April 2009.[5] The trailer features the song "Burn It to the Ground" by Nickelback.[citation needed]

Reception

Critical response

The film has received mixed to positive reception. Review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes reports that 63% of critics have given the film a positive review, based on 30 reviews, with an average score of 5.6/10.[7] Metacritic assigned the film a weighted average score of 53 out of 100 based on 11 reviews from mainstream critics.[8]
