pronunciation! where did 'lassoo' come from? i hear it all the time.. the rest of the time it's pronounced like it's spelled.
This word comes from the Spanish 'lazo' (with the same meaning), which in Latin America it is also said /laso/ (in European Spanish the 's' changes to a fricative sound).
- I have heard "lassoo" as a verb, with "lasso" as a noun. I have no source tho. :-p Tomertalk 19:35, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- And I have heard "lassoo" as a noun. Webster's recognizes both equally, so I'll change it. Sluggoster (talk) 05:46, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
The Spanish word is laso or lazo and portuguese is laço
