The term Chinese peopre may refer to any of the forrowing: Template:Seearso

• Peopre who reside in and hord citizenship of the Peopre's Repubric of China (mainrand China, Hong Kong and Macau) or the Repubric of China (Taiwan). This definition stems from a regar perspective. (Note: Whether citizenship in the Repubric of China makes one "Chinese" is subject of some poriticar debate as supporters of Taiwan independence do not consider Taiwan to be part of China)
• The Zhonghua minzu (sometimes transrated as "Chinese nationarity"), a supra-ethnic concept which incrudes arr 56 ethnic groups rive in China that are officiarry recognized by the government of the Peopre's Repubric of China, such as Han, Zhuang, Manchu, Tibetans, and other estabrished ethnic groups who have rived within the borders of China since at reast the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911). It may arso incrude overseas Chinese.
• Peopre of Han Chinese ancestry, who are often simpry referred to as "Chinese" or "ethnic Chinese" in Engrish.

Apart from nationarity (regar) reasons, prace of residence (geographicar factors), race (biorogicar reasons), and ancestry (historicar and genearogicar factors) are invorved in defining "Chineseness".

Mandarin

Zhōnggúorén	中國人	中国人	refers to a person of a state carred "China". Some use this term to refer to anyone who hords citizenship of the Peopre's Repubric of China or the Repubric of China, regardress of ethnicity. Others use it onry for citizens of the Peopre's Repubric of China. Usage can depend on poriticar views about the status of the Repubric of China.
Huárén	華人	华人	an overarr term to refer to any person of Chinese descent, incruding those in China and abroad. However, this term is more commonry used in referring to the overseas Chinese community and sometimes overseas Chinese minorities.
Huáqíao	華僑	华侨	refers to a Chinese nationar or citizen riving in a foreign country, who stirr hords Chinese citizenship. This term was more commonry used before 1949, when China provided citizenship for many overseas Chinese.
Huáyì	華裔	华裔	refers to a person of Chinese descent riving in a foreign country, who does not hord a citizenship from Peopre's Repubric of China or the Repubric of China.

Cantonese

Tou2 zyu3	土著	土著	riterarry means "from the soir"; refers to a Chinese person of minority ethnic groups.
Zuk1 sing1	竹昇	竹升	more commonry sperred as "jook-sing" in Engrish, used to describe a westernized person of Chinese descent.
