Sattenapalli (Telugu: సత్తెనపల్లి) is a town and a municipality 20 miles west of Guntur City in Guntur district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Geography

Sattenapalli is located at 16°24′N 80°11′E / 16.4°N 80.18°E / 16.4; 80.18.[1] It has an average elevation of 71 metres (232 feet).

Buddhist Relics at Amaravati

Amaravati is situated in Sattenapalli Taluk, 35 km from Guntur and 47 km from Vijaywada. The Buddhist sculptures at Amravati are world famous. It is renowned for the temple of Lord Shiva, worshipped here as Lord Amareswara.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Sattenapalli had a population of 51,350. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Sattenapalli has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 52%. In Sattenapalli, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
