Moa was signed on a one year contract from Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks who play in the NRL. He was signed in January 2009 and arrived a week before Hull F.C.'s fixture with Huddersfield Giants which he featured off the bench and made a solid debut. Sam Moa has already become a fan favourite due to his work rate and size. He has been sponsored by PBS Construction Ltd. Moa will be looking to impress on his first season in super league.

'The Tongan Mafia'

Moa is good friends with fellow Hull F.C. and Tonga team mates Willie Manu and Epalahame Lauaki. The trio are commonly known by the Hull FC fans as 'The Tongan Mafia'.[citation needed]

Tonga

Moa was picked in the 2008 World Cup squad due to an injury problem. He featured in all three of Tonga's matches including coming off the bench in the hammering of Scotland (Scotland 0-48 Tonga), Tonga scored in the 80th minute in front of the post so Moa was given the chance to take the conversion which he scored successfully.
