I deleted a comment:
- He is "married" to the BBC north-west television personality Stuart Hall.

Additional info
Fred W Talbot (the W is for Winston). He was a founding member of the Altrincham and District Astronomy Society, and remains involved today. He taught Biology at Altrincham Grammar School, and during this period also recorded a weekly Astronomical programme for Radio Manachester. This branched out into occasional spots on Granada Reports, usually when something like a Lunar Eclipse was due. The TV work continued until Granada commissioned Fred to appear in a general 'science for kids' style programme called The Final Frontier. Fred remained a regular on Granada Reports and then landed the TV weatherman spot, for which he has little formal training. However he became the national UK weatherman for Richard and Judy, at the Albert Dock in Liverpool, on his floating UK weather map, the biggest weather map in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records, apparently. As a friend of over 44 years, and best man at my wedding, I can attest to these details. My wife and I well remember the books that he used to "clue up" on weather technology. He does not need academic acumen because he is an adept communicator - and that is all that matters in communicating with his media public.
