Trina

Katrina Laverne Taylor (born December 3, 1978),[1] better known by her stage name Trina, is an American female rapper, songwriter and model from Miami, Florida. Trina is best known for her songs Da Baddest Bitch, Pull Over , One Minute Man featuring Missy Elliot and Ludacris, Here We Go featuring Kelly Rowland and I Got A Thang For You featuring Keyshia Cole

Early life

Trina's mother is African American and her father is Dominican[2] Growing up, she lived in both the Liberty City housing projects in Miami and upper-class Pembroke Pines,FL[3] She graduated from Miami Northwestern High School, where she had been a majorette; after high school she worked office jobs at AT&T and United Parcel Service and she also has a license in real estate sales.[4]

Music career

Miami rapper Trick Daddy asked Trina to recite a verse on his debut and in 1998, that track, "Nann Nigga", ended up being the first single of his www.thug.com album. The single became a hit reaching No. 3 on the Rap Charts. Trina gained popularity by showcasing her thick backside and ended up getting a deal with Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic Records.

Da Baddest B***h (2000)

In March 2000, Trina's debut album Da Baddest Bitch was released. The album entered the Billboard Chart at #33.[5] & with the lead single, also titled "Da Baddest Bitch," followed by "Pull Over" on the album's re-release, Da Baddest Bitch was certified gold by November 2000.

Diamond Princess (2002)

The next two years she spent time with Missy Elliott developing her second album.[1] On August 27, 2002 Trina released her second album Diamond Princess in USA.[6] The album spawned three singles, including "No Panties",which became Trina's first release outside of the U.S. and the smash hit song, "B R Right" featuring Ludacris.

The Glamorest Life (2005)

Her third studio album titled Glamorest Life was released October 4, 2005,[7] it charted at #11 on the Billboard Albums.[8] The album featured her highest charting single to date, "Here We Go" featuring Kelly Rowland. It also became her first single to chart outside of America. Glamorest Life sold more than 400,000 units in the U.S. according to Soundscan totals.[9] In 2007, Trina released two mixtapes. Rockstarr Royalty was released in the spring of 2007 and the Baddest Chick 2: Reloaded was released in the fall.

Still Da Baddest (2008)

On April 1, 2008 Trina released Still da Baddest after it was pushed back, having a planned release date of February 12.[10] The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Rap and R&B charts, and at #6 on The Billboard 200.[5] The Street single "Look Back At Me" produced and co-written by Hard Hat Productions & Music Entertainment was a certified club smash record.

Million Dollar Girl (2010)

On March 14 Trina released her new video for "Million Dollar Girl" featuring Keri Hilson and Diddy and she also has released a video for her song "That's My Attitude".--207.69.139.146 (talk) 18:56, 5 July 2010 (UTC)hay fans this yo girl trina

The Mo'Nique Show (2010)

On March 29, 2010 Trina appeared on The Mo'Nique Show to address the recently leaked nude photos and her forthcoming album Amazin'.

Amazin (2010)

On May 4, 2010 Trina released her 5th studio album Amazin'. It debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, #4 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, #2 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums & #1 on the Billboard Independent Albums, the album sold more than 43,000 copies in the first two weeks.[11] The Album earned mixed and positive reviews from music critics. The album is also said by critics to be one of the less desirable of her work to date.

Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South (2010)

On June 7, 2010 Trina performed at the 2010 VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South, she performed the song That’s Cool with Silk The Shocker & also performed “Million Dollar Girl” for the Miami segment of the show.

Business and charity work

In Spring 2010 Trina has launched a Shopping store via her official website TheBaddestChick.com where she sells her own Lip Gloss entitled 'Amazin' Lip Gloss, with every purchase of Trina's Amazin' Lip Gloss a donation will be made to the CarmaFoundation. They will purchase a CareGiver Kit through the World Vision Foundation and also help build shelters for orphans devastated by the 2010 Haiti Earthquake.[12]


Reality Television

It has been confirmed that this Fall, Trina will be starring in her VH1 reality show titled "The Baddest Chick" [13]
