"Back at One" is a song written and recorded by American R&B singer Brian McKnight, and released as a single from his 1999 album Back at One. "Back at One" was a #2 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Later that same year country music singer Mark Wills released a cover version of the song, which reached #2 on the country singles charts.

Brian McKnight recorded the song on his 1999 album Back at One, releasing it in August of that year as the album's first single. His version was a #2 pop hit, spending eight weeks at that position on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. McKnight also performed the song with Brazilian singer Ivete Sangalo on her album Festa.
Singer Mijares covered it in his 2009 Spanish album Vivir Así.

Mark Wills, a country music singer, covered "Back at One" on his 1999 album Permanently, also releasing it as that album's first single. Released two months after McKnight's version, Wills's cover peaked at #2 on the Billboard country singles charts. It was also his fifth entry on the Hot 100 charts, peaking at #36 there.

Other versions
In 2000, keyboardist Bob Baldwin released a cover of the song from the album "BobBaldwin.com."[1][2] Irish boyband Westlife duetted with Lulu in 2002.
Another instrumental rendition of this song has been performed by saxophonist Warren Hill, from his album 2005 PopJazz.[3][4]
