The article Crypto++ has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NN software library

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Toddst1 (talk) 22:37, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Crypto++, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Crypto++. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Toddst1 (talk) 01:51, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where to place your citation

Usually the best place to place your citation <ref> </ref> is at the end of the sentence. If you string a lot of footnotes in the middle of the sentence, it become really hard to read the article. Also, you don't need to cite a separate footnote for each citation. You can lump a few citation into one footnote.

Example:

Claim X, Y, and Z are made in this sentence. [1]
  1. ^ For fact X see:The Website for X, Five paragrapghs down. For fact Y see: The book BLA BLA by BLA BLA page # ISBN:34523452345. For fact Z see:Cite or Die, Last checked in 2006.

That's one way you can get rid of a long string of footnotes on the end of a sentence.

Here's the official guide manual for footnotes: WP:Manual_of_Style_(footnotes). -- ℐℴℯℓ ℳ. ℂℌAT ✐ 23:06, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Crypto++

Excellent work - with a little collaboration turned into a decent encyclopedia article! Ryan Norton 03:48, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

collaboration - is that what you call hand-holding and nursing? lol.... The article surely would have been deleted without you and zoohouse. Thanks again.

Minor Edits

Make sure you know what Minor Edits mean. Don't just check it off if you don't know what counts as a minor edit and what does. Some people get ticked off when you don't use it right. ;) -- ℐℴℯℓ ℳ. ℂℌAT ✐ 06:01, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Thanks. I think I was abusing it in ignorance.

Crypto++ NOR problem

I just noticed that you are using a ton of primary sources in the article. Sorry, I should have mentioned sooner that primary source can't be used in wikipedia except in very special situations. more info: Talk:Crypto++#Primary Sources - NOR Issue

You should replace all the primary sources with secondary sources ASAP. If you can't find secondary sources for them, then put a {{fact}} tag on it and we will figure it out tomorrow.

File:Crypto++-logo.png (logo)

Needs a source (URL) and copyright information or the roaming bots will munch it up. If it's copyrighted, it'll need a detailed rationale but I can help out with that. Ryan Norton 15:21, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Do you sleep?
OK - it was created for the Crypto++ project some time ago. I created it for Crypto++'s wiki, which explains why it looks so lame (but there's no hole in the upper left hand corner of http://www.cryptopp.com/wiki/Main_Page).
I managed to munge things up on the Upload(Wiki)/Trim/Upload(Commons). The logo that should be used is at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Crypto++-logo.png.

Original discussion of Crypto++ logos can be found at http://groups.google.com/group/cryptopp-users/browse_thread/thread/eb150acc3907aeae/27a034eec03a4c53.
Jeff Noloader (talk) 15:40, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh, I see; commons images should just be mirrored here so you can just stick {{db-g7}} at the top of the wikipedia version. Immediately (or eventually) the commons version should show up here. Ryan Norton 15:46, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I'm not sue what {{db-g7}} <nowiki> is - it looks like a typo. Is that what you meant? : Jeff ~~~~ == Group edits together == If you make a lot of small edits like wikifing the article, you can group it into one big edit. Just edit the article, and add all the <nowiki>[[ ]] and then save your changes. That kind of edit is minor and you can simply state "wikifing" in the Edit Summery. -- ℐℴℯℓ ℳ. ℂℌAT ✐ 18:42, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. (I also tend to do it when checking in code to a source control system (lots of small check-ins)). BTW. you signature in ie: .
