WPAZ (1370 AM) was a radio station broadcasting an Oldies format. Licensed to Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA, it served the Philadelphia area. The station, which signed on in 1951, was owned by Great Scott Broadcasting and featured programing from Citadel Media.

WPAZ closed down on December 10, 2009, with Great Scott citing a focus on its other, more-profitable stations.[1]

Resumption of Operations

On August 12, 2010, the WPAZ Preservation Association (an organization formed by Pottstown area citizenry interested in purchasing the station, maintaining local ownership, and instituting a format beneficial to the area) announced that an agreement of purchase would be completed (by them) with Great Scott Broadcasting on or about August 31, 2010[2]. To date, negotiations have not been finalized, however, on September 6, 2010, the WPAZ Preservation Assocation announced through their Facebook page that the station was once again on the air. [3]

While the station has not "officially" returned to the airwaves, testing and alignment of the facility has begun, presumably by employees of Great Scott Broadcasting in effort to prepare the station for the transfer of ownership.
