WirelessWave is a subsidiary of GLENTEL providing wireless and wired communications products and services as well as a choice of mobile phone brands to consumers through retail outlets in mall-based locations across Canada [2]. Founded in 1963, GLENTEL comprises two working divisions – Retail and Business – that together operate more than 285 locations across Canada. [3]

History

Thirteen years ago, WirelessWave opened its first mall-based store in the Metropolis at Metrotown mall in Burnaby, British Columbia[4]. On August 13, 1997, at 10:22 a.m., GLENTEL Inc., through its new trade banner WirelessWave, introduced a new marketing approach to the purchase of a cellular phone by offering consumers their personal choice of cellular network provider, phones, accessories, and calling plans all in one store.

Services

WirelessWave has a network of over 100 stores located in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan. [5] At each location customers can shop the networks in one store, with the choice of 5 carriers and a variety of cellular phones, wireless internet and accessories.[6]

After 40 years of experience in wireless communications, GLENTEL has a large technical service staff in the country to develop, install, and support a broad range of end-to-end solutions.[7]
