Family - Ties of Blood is a 2006 Bollywood movie directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Bhoomika Chawla and 'Introducing' Aryeman Ramsay.

Upon release, Family was noted as a average.

Synopsis

The story revolves around Shekhar (Akshay Kumar), a responsible and sensible cook who lives and would die for his family. Shekhar meets Kavita (Bhumika Chawla), a woman who has to find some hidden reservoirs of strength in herself and fight to save her husband's family from breaking down. They both fall in love, and marry each other. Next, Aryan (Aryeman Ramsay), Shekhar's younger brother, completely nothing like Shekhar, is seen downloading a porn film and gets arrested. When Shekhar bails him out and takes him home, their father (Anjan Srivastava) kicks Aryan out after finding out what he did. While underworld-don, Viren Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) gets threatened to go to jail for what his son Aveer (Sushant Singh) did, he murders the Prime Minister's girlfriend, but when the Prime Minister tells his assassin Khan (Kader Khan) to kill Viren, Viren gets to Khan first. Then when Shekhar goes out looking for Aryan, Shekhar sees that Viren is just about to shoot Khan without him knowing, but misses, and creates havoic at the cinema and everybody starts to run. Viren doesn't care and starts chasing for Khan's assassin, he shoots him, but instead it hits Shekhar. Shekhar then gets hit by Viren's car and sadly dies. When Aryan finds this out he kidnaps Viren's family, and Viren with the help of Abhir finds a way to save their family. But when Aryan finds out that the police is connected with Viren, he knows he can't trust anybody and then he lets his family go. The climax shows that Viren still wants to kill Aryan, although Abhir wants to kill Viren. When Abhir shows up to shoot Viren, he has the perfect aim until somehow Aryan grabs Abhir's gun and Viren turns around and shoots Abhir. The film ends with Viren begging to Aryan to kill him, he concepts that he has no life left, and Aryan ends the battle by concepting that "The Punishment is not death, it's life".

Critical Reception

Box office

Family - Ties of Blood striked in cinemas in 2006, and is too ordinary a fare to create much of an impression. At the box-office, it may get the advantage of the holidays, but the mediocre script will make a dent in its business and curtail its business largely. One the whole, Family was a below average flop in the box-office.
