Candice Accola (born May 13, 1987) is an American actress and singer, best known for her role as Caroline Forbes on The Vampire Diaries.
Career
Accola grew up in Edgewood.[1] Her father, Kevin, is a cardio-vascular and thoracic surgeon[2] and her mother, Carolyn, was formerly an environmental engineer before becoming a homemaker. Both her parents are active members of the local Republican political party.[3][4] She has one younger brother.[1]
In her early teens, Accola found a talent agent in California. Then, in the middle of her junior year at Lake Highland Preparatory School, she moved to Los Angeles.[1] Six months later, she had a deal for a CD titled It’s Always the Innocent Ones. She finished high school through correspondence and graduated with her class in 2005.[1] Accola appeared in her first movie, Pirate Camp, in 2007. Accola has guest starred on popular TV series How I Met Your Mother, Supernatural and Greek. She has also appeared in films such as On the Doll, Juno, Deadgirl and X's & O's.
Accola has continued her professional singing and has appeared as a background singer in the movies Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert and Hannah Montana: The Movie.
She appears as Caroline Forbes in the television series The Vampire Diaries.
Accola guest starred on Drop Dead Diva as Jessica of pop group Confetti with Mackenzie Mauzy.
In 2009 she was arrested with Photographer Tyler Shields and Cast mate Nina Dobrev during a photo shoot in Georgia [5]http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/crime/tv-starlets-behind-bars Candice was also linked to photographer Tyler Shields as his girlfriend which broke in Star Magazine and later other gossip sites photos of the 2 where seen during Shields Halloween Party [6] http://www.tylershields.com/2009/11/01/halloween-2/ She appeared in many Tyler Shields photographs it is speculated that they were a couple while they were arrested.
Philantropy
She is, together with her The Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder, one of many supporters of the It Gets Better Project, a project that has made it a goal to prevent suicide among LGBT youth[7], associated with The Trevor Project.[8]
