Ville Haapasalo (born 28 February 1972) is a Finnish actor. His name in Russian is Вилле Хаапасалo. His acting career started in 1995, after finishing studying in St. Petersburg. An acclaimed stage actor in Finland and Russia, Ville Haapasalo was also awarded the 2001 Honored Artist of the Russian Federation award for his star-making turns in the films of Aleksandr Rogozhkin. Personal life

He was born in Lahti, Finland. Haapasalo stands 6 feet ¾ inches (1.85 m). He speaks four languages fluently: Finnish, Russian, Swedish, and English. His hobbies include playing trombone, ice-hockey, skiing, and skating. He has dark brown hair and green/gray eyes. He wears a size 52.[2]

Ville Haapasalo married Saara Hedlund in 1995. They have three children and currently reside in Helsinki, Finland.[3]

Education

Haapasalo was educated in St. Petersburg at the Academy of Performing Arts or the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatrical Art. He studied there from 1991-1995. In his first year of study, he was mugged nine times. He knew no Russian when he began studying. Although he is now fluent in Russian, he is still not familiar with Russian grammar. [4]

Career

Although his fame comes mostly from film, he also writes for the screen, acts in theaters, and does TV cinema. He also appeared in Finland's Ministry of Transport and Communications' 1998 campaign National Features of Driving instructing Russians on Finnish road rules. He is more widely recognized in Russia than in Finland, even though he is Finnish. [5]
