Calymene (meaning beautiful crescent as a reference to the glabella) is a genus of trilobites in the order Phacopida, suborder Calymenina, that were found throughout North America, North Africa, and Europe in primarily Silurian outcrops. Calymene are easily confused with Gravicalymene and Flexicalymene, also part of the Calymenidae family. This trilobite grew to a length of 2.5 inches (7 centimeters) and fed on small edible particles in the water.
