"Pretty Girl Rock" is an R&B song performed by American singer Keri Hilson. It serves as the second single from her upcoming second studio album, No Boys Allowed. It was released digitally in the United States on October 12, 2010.[1]

Background

"Pretty Girl Rock" was produced by Ne-Yo and Chuck Harmony.[2] The song is about uniting women over their shared beauty rather than the jealousy that drives them apart.[3] Hilson explained "It’s not meant to be a vain record. I want everybody to feel like they can do the Pretty Girl Rock. It’s like the hair brush in the mirror, don’t hate me 'cause I’m beautiful, 'cause you are. Everybody is beautiful. I want everyone to be able to sing that record."[2]

The music video for "Pretty Girl Rock" was directed by Joseph Kahn on October 15, 2010.[4] In the video it shows Hilson portraying an array of historic Black female performers. She takes on the roles of:


It premiered on November 11, 2010 on BET's 106 & Park.[6]

Remixes

Rap-Up.com premiered the official remix of "Pretty Girl Rock" featuring Kanye West on November 23, 2010. Kanye hypes the intro and continues to a verse after Keri's first. The rest of the song follows as is with Kanye on the second chorus and no outro.[7] The remix will appeared on the album as the last track. Rapper Ace Hood also made his own remix of the song. There is also a remix in which Foxy Brown has a guest verse that has been erroneously regarded as an official remix, however it is an unofficial fan-made mash-up containing an old Foxy Brown verse from another song.

Live performances

Hilson performed this song at the 2010 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday November 25, 2010 on NBC.
